to rmove the screws from area behind screen on BS use a security T30 torx. This is commonly known as a Bronco Screw. I am going to mount a Bulletpoint Rubigrid in the area. which I will install a ham (2 way) radio. No holes drilled

Actually, if we are being 100% honest, while yes, a Torx works, they’re actually Torx plus.

Looks great. I still have some thoughts for my self. Where is the best/easiest place to mount the radio, not the head the main part, and how did you do the wiring to the head?

It is actually a security torx T30. A regular torx will not work.
that tray is actually called an accessory tray.

I’m very confused. Are you implying I’m wrong? Because I’m not.

From Google:

Removal/Install Tool: Factory trim and accessory tray brackets are usually secured using Torx Plus (TP).

So, again… as I stated earlier… while a Torx bit WILL work, it’s not the right tool for the job. Try removing a torqued down TP bolt with a regular Torx and you will very quickly realize the difference.

Thanks! I’m actually planning to improve the installation quite a bit soon, and once I do, I’ll make a proper post in the group with more details and photos.

For now, I have the main radio body mounted under the driver’s seat.

The power wires come directly from the battery, pass through a rubber grommet near the steering column, behind the brake pedal area, then run behind the lower trim along the driver’s door sill and end up under the driver’s seat.

From there, the UTP/control cable goes from the main unit to the head unit. That is currently the part I’m not fully happy with: the cable runs visibly through the center console up to the accessory tray, where I currently have the head unit mounted.

EXAGERATING THE PATH....

My next plan is to redo that part. I want to mount the head unit in the overhead sunglasses holder area, then route the UTP/control cable above the headliner, down the A-pillar, and back down toward the area under the seat.

For the microphone, I’m also planning to install a panel-mount connector, so the mic can plug in cleanly while the cable remains hidden and routed back to the main radio body.

I hope this helps.

security torx is a torx plus tp from what I understand from the internet. My FORD dealer told me to get a security torx

My 25 BS BL has the nipple . Ford did change the type of torx.
Odd, mine was a Torx plus.

Torx plus and security Torx are not the same. Wonder why yours has a different bolt.

Must be a Friday build.
