I'm really leery of this "fix." have 2021 BS BL and have not had any of this problems. Concerned that the recall will create them.
I feel the same way. My '21 BS BB is not having any issues at all. Why get the recall done if I'm not affected. I always disable A.S.S. anyway. On the rare occasion I forget to, it always functions as it should though.

My recommendation is owners should be diligent in monitoring battery voltage in ā€œreal-timeā€.

An easy low cost way to monitor the battery voltage is with a voltmeter plugged into the 12V Port. More on that topic is posted at:
https://www.broncosportforum.com/forum/threads/battery-just-died-no-warnings-or-any-signs.11799/post-198778

What to look for is discussed in this post:

I have one of those and it gives me some peace of mind considering all the battery and related problems with BS's.

I really wish that Ford would have given us more details in regards to what changes were made in the way that BS operates after the updates. For instance things like what changed in how the battery charges or the auto start/stop operates and what messages to expect and when to expect them. I am focused on this since I noticed that the way the auto start/stop has operates seems to have changed when the BS is cold and the status message explaining why the auto start/stop did not engage has also changed.

As I mentioned in a previous post since the update the auto start/stop activates much quicker than it did before the updates, meaning from a cold start even after sitting for a few days the auto start/stop activates from the first time the BS stops. Previously it would take driving at least a short distance before the auto start/stop would activate when starting to drive even after the BS sat just over night.

In addition I also noticed that the Auto Start/Stop message screen no longer says "Engine on due to charging" when the auto start/stop didn't engage. Now the message just says "engine operating normally" even when initially driving from a cold start and the auto start/stop engages when previously it would have not engaged due to engine charging. It seems at least with my BS which only has 1700 miles on it, the auto start/stop message about not engaging due to the engine charging when initially driving from a cold start no longer displays when checking the auto start/stop status. I only get "engine is operating normally".

The question now is does the "engine on due to charging" message ever display anymore or does the battery charge need to be below a certain level before the auto start/stop does not engage and the engine charging message appears on the auto start/stop screen at which point maybe better get the battery changed. It seems Ford should put out a supplement to the owners manuals for the affected years that include the changes that the driver will notice and what the messages mean.

From what owners are posting about observed behavior following Recall 24S24, I don’t think Ford knows what to put into a supplement.

You are probably right. I know it is just wishful thinking on my part. I actually wasn't planning to get the update yet but I had the BS at the dealer for a sync update and they did the recall update while they had the vehicle. I really wanted to wait a long while after reading some of the types of issues others were posting on this forum. My concerns may just be the new normal operation after the recall update but I will never know for sure.

Did you ever resolve your poor fuel economy issue?
No

In early March 2024, I noticed the radiator cooling fan is running at a noticeably higher sound level. The AC has been in continuous use Feb to now. It’s very hot here with many over 100° days and over 110° days. Even the night temps haven’t fallen below 90°.

I noticed the cooling fan noise because I can turn off the AC and within a very short time the cooling fan noise reduces considerably. I don’t remember if summer of 2022 and summer of 2023 the radiator cooling fan was as loud as now but mpg was better in summer ā€˜22 and ā€˜23 than in summer 2024:

Summer of 2023 was hottest on record and summer of 2024 will likely be a new hottest on record but will be pretty close to 2023.

I suspect the drop in fuel economy has to do with the high outside ambient temp and a side affect of that is the radiator cooling fan running as described above but I don’t know if that could be the cause of reduced fuel economy?

What do you think about his suspicion?

For those owners on the fence regarding getting Recall 24S24 completed, please be aware that NHTSA HAS CLOSED FORD BRONCO SPORT 12V BATTERY INVESTIGATION (Recall 24S24) stating the NHTSA found Ford’s Recall solution ā€œsatisfactoryā€.

NHTSA went on to state: ā€œAdditionally, Ford has replaced the EFB with an absorbed glass mat (AGM) battery as both a service component for the subject vehicles and as original equipment for Bronco Sport vehicles with production dates beginning in mid-March 2024. The warranty claim rate for peer vehicles equipped with an AGM battery is substantially lower than that for the subject vehicle population.ā€

If you are on the fence regarding getting Recall 24S24 completed, now is the time to reconsider your decision and also give serious thought to obtaining the AGM Battery if you currently have the EFB or have a fairly old AGM Battery that might have been damaged as described in:

Our local news reported that a large percentage of automobile owners have not taken their cars in for recall notices (all brands).

The news article did not go into however as to the reasons why consumers did not schedule a recall appointment.
