There is a small black trim plate between the rear hatch and roof. I assume it's there to help keep water out of the electronics in the hatch. The problem is that EVERY time I run the BSBL through a car wash the plate comes loose. Has anyone else experienced this? Dealer reseated it at the 10K, but the problem persists. I tap it in by hand after each wash--it's a habit now. Anyone else have this issue?

Those body pins are sort of a one use item. Once they strip out, they're done. The dealer probably shoved it back in and did no more than you could do. Buy a set of pins at the car store or order them from the dealer. A box should be under $10, probably under $5. Can't imagine why the car wash would do that, but maybe it is the dryer/blower blasting it off.

Thanks for bringing this up. I had the same issue with the same part a while back. I popped it back in and it's been fine ever since. I had no idea how it came loose. I do use the touchless car washes in the colder months so now that we're in November I'll be paying for washes again. Maybe the jet dryers are blowing it loose? I'll know to check it next time.

Same for me for the few times I've gone through an automatic car wash.

Yep. Same thing happened to both our BS Heritage Limited and Badlands. Brought it to the dealer. This isn't a '73 Nova. These are 40-50k cars. I'm not buying no rivets at AutoZone.

I've had 2 side mirrors blow off ('19 Edge and '20 Ecosport) from the high powered blowers at Delta Sonic car wash. Hope it doesn't happen to my OBX!

UPDATE: I had body fasteners on hand (purchased in a kit for a different reason) found the right size, replaced failed fasteners and have had no problems since.

I go through an automatic (touchless) car wash twice a week and have yet to experience this (knock on wood) but will be checking for this from now on. Thanks!

We have used a touch-less car wash three or four times since buying the BS Badlands. One day last week I was in the back unloading something and when I looked up I noticed the trim piece was off. I just put back in place. I will definitely make a habit of checking next time we go through the car wash.

It’ll happen each time until the plastic pins are replaced - dealership did mine under the factory warranty

Did that solve the issue?

I wonder if the originals are defective or they just get worn after going through the car wash.
