Before picking up my BB, I wasn't very impressed with photos of the BB stock 17" wheels. However, after getting the BB and seeing that CG wheels on the Iconic Silver, I actually really liked them. It kinda made me wonder what everyone else's thoughts were about the various wheel options on the Sport (and what might drive one to the aftermarket, and which stock wheels if you got them might have kept you from the aftermarket). Just to start, here are the various wheel options that come OEM on Sports:

Base Model: 17" modified "Y" pattern, Sparkle Silver:

There they are. The whole slate of wheels that have been offered on the Sport. Personally, I really like the FE wheels and wish that they could be optioned on as part of a Black Appearance Package with black lettering and black painted roof. Would have paid good $ for that. My ranking would be: 1) FE; 2) BL Steelies; 3) BL Standard; 4) BB Standard 17"; 5) Base; 6) Heritage; 7) OB; 8) BB 18". I actually don't hate any of them. I do prefer the look of the 17"s over the 18"s, but I think the wheels are still good.

I like the ones that came with my 2023 BS Outer Banks.

The OBX wheels are some of the worst wheels I've ever seen on a vehicle and so are the optional 18" BB wheels. White wheels shouldn't even exist, so those three are out.

So, the only wheels in the conversation for me are Base, BB std, FE Black, BL std, and BL optional.

The FE black wheels are cool, but I really wish they were more matte. Too glossy and I think Ford missed the mark here with what could have been some really great wheels. Otherwise, they're just black Base wheels. I'd rank them:
  1. BL Optional
  2. BB
  3. FE Black
  4. BL Standard
  5. Base
The rest are landfill material that would need to be replaced.

I like the steelies - especially the white ones on the Heritage - but the stock 17" "piston" Big Bend wheels are my favorite. They just scream "TRUCK!" to me. Also, gotta say it's nice to have a decent amount of sidewall for a change.

Big Bend and Badlands wheels look best.
I really dislike the Outer Banks 18 inch wheels, they look like Subaru wheels.
OK with me...I like Subaru's too.

Mine came with the optional 18s, how it was ordered from the dealer. They are fine with me, my BS is a pavement pounder anyways. I fitted larger falken wildpeaks for durability and looks. Out of the two I like the optional 18s vs the 18s on the outer banks. Kinda indifferent really, I would have taken any of the wheels other then those white ones and the base wheels.

I don't think any of the "stock" wheels are especially bad. The only thing wrong with them is that everyone has the same ones. That's why I run my Chrome Verde mags whenever the weather permits. I mount snow tires on my "stock" wheels for winter use. View attachment 36364

I don't like either of the 18s. The Base wheels are quite good looking, especially for a base trim level. BB wheels are great. All the steelies are growing on me. My BL wheels are fine, but they certainly aren't inspirational in any way. The FE wheels are great for the same reason the Base wheels are good, but better because they're black. I haven't seen an aftermarket wheel that really did it for me yet.

Each seem to fit their corresponding vehicle, IMO. The only ones I don’t care for are the premium BL alloys, but I’m probably one of the very people who don’t like ā€˜em.

In reading through these posts, it's obvious as to why there are different rim styles. Different strokes for different folks.

Chose iconic silver for my BB. Still very pleasantly surprised how good the OEM wheels and paint color look together, TBH.
Same here. Silver can be hard to match. Carbonized Grey looks so good with Iconic Silver but also with Alto Blue and Oxford White!
