Don't forget to apply a water repellant after washing. I do front and rear. Mainly because I hate to use wipers unless it's absolutely necessary. These things are worth soo much used... If you use your wipers a lot you leave permanent outlines on your windshield. The upright windshield does NOT help with airflow, duh.

Pretty cool,
I put Rain-x washer fluid in and yes I rarely need my wipers more than a few passes at first.
In the winter my BS stays pretty filthy.
I bought it to use, I’ll trade it in six or seven years.
It’s no show truck.
It’s Black.
I like it !
I’ll wash it in the spring time. :’D

Have never encountered permanent marks on my windshield from using the wipers.
Aside from that,

@areabadlands51
what is the benefit of the Rain-X?
Does it leave the windshield cleaner after water hits it and dries?
Lots of dust and dirt always on the windshield does it alleviate that from adhering?

I use Rain x on all my windows. I start with 0000 steel wool to scrub the windows. I then use a blue Scott towel with constrained rain x. Wipe the windows either up and down or right to left. I apply it twice then let it haze over. I then grab another blue Scott towel damping it with water. Clean the rain x off in the same direction as applied. Grab a microfiber towel and buff. On the inside I clean with windshield washer fluid on a blue Scott towel.

if you go right to left on outside of window, then on the inside go up and down. That way if there are streaks you know which side of the glass it is on.

Dust dirt snow etc just slides or washes right off.

I highly recommend Griots Glass Sealant. Applied a coat in the Fall before the winter rains came in the PNW and it is still holding up really well. A little goes a long ways for this fluid, meaning you don't need to apply much for an effective coat.

I don't believe keeping the window clean is the primary benefit of RainX. RainX makes the glass hydrophobic to repel water. On a window properly treated with RainX you don't need to use wipers when it rains at speeds above 30 mph or so; the water beads up and is immediately pushed off the glass by the wind. It also makes it far less likely your wipers will leave streaks as they become worn.

The car wash I use (Delta Sonic) applies it with their deluxe car washes!
