I know my 23 big bend with the 1.5 says 4.5 qts but, mine has the plastic pan which really takes 6.6quarts. I only found out on the 1st oil change i did at home. I filled it with the 4.5 qts. I backed it off the ramp and shut it down and was wondering why the dip stick didn’t have a read on it. If yours is a 1.5 and assuming everything else is ok id say they didn’t add enough oil.

It's quite possible that sound has nothing to do with the oil level. It doesn't sound to me like a noise related to low or no oil. The fact you were hearing this sound both before and after the oil change further bolsters that possibility.

You didn't mention a low oil pressure warning light, so so I'm assuming it never illuminated. If that's the case it's not likely you caused any damage by running the engine even though you saw no oil on the dipstick.

That said, the advice to call the dealer and have it towed is solid. Something is clearly not right with your car, and if the dealership did indeed short you on oil then you don't want to give any reason to deny warranty coverage by running the engine any more than you already have.

Could be that whoever is doing your oil change is only putting in 5qts as if it had a metal oil pan instead of the 6+qts for the plastic oil pan if that is what it has.
I am not sure if 5qts of oil would show on the dip stick for BS's with the larger oil pan or not.
That's what happened to me. the dealership was not aware of the change in mid 2022's to the higher capacity PLASTIC pans, and 5 qrts doesn't show on the stick.

I have a newer 2023 bronco sport. Just hit 25,000km. It starting making a noise so I took it into get an oil change as I thought that’s why the noise was happening. I got it into an oil change on a Thursday and by Sunday the noise was still happening so I had my partner look at it as he is good with cars. He found there was no oil in the car at all.
I hope 25000km wasn't the first oil change!

Yeah I do my own oil changes in my garage and was surprised that the dip stick didn't show any oil after doing the full service oil change with full synthetic on first change ......so after some investigation I found that my Big Bend had a larger capacity pan and continued to fill until it was right. I'll be doing the Badlands pretty soon and we'll see how that goes.

If it was making that sound before you took it to get serviced, the damage is already done, sounds like something touching flywheel or pulleys, they won’t make a sound when locked up.

Well, if my engine locked up, there would be a loud sound coming from the vehicle...it would be me shouting nasty language at the world.

If there was no oil, the engine would seize quickly.

It actually sounds like a loose heat shield vibrating. I agree with everyone's comments here - seems like the vehicle would give warning signs if there was no oil (low/no pressure, etc.). Please let us know what the dealership says.
