I may have this issue on my 2021 BL. I see Ford has 2 SSM's regarding the manual park cable release problem.

SSM 50743 & SSM 51184. I can't really see any difference in the two. This just started a couple weeks ago.

It's a high pitch buzzing sound, not constant, more noticeable at lower speeds when there is less road noise.

My hearing is piss poor and I can't pinpoint it location, but the wife says it sound like it on the lower driver's side.

Has anyone had this issue and had it resolved by replacing the cable per the SSM by Ford?

Replacing the manual park release cable has solved a number of similar noise for other owners. I also heard even the latest part # can still fail after some amount of time but that’s not confirmed.

here is the info I have for what it’s worth, also I don’t know for sure what the most current part # is for the manual park release cable.

Manual Park Release Cable:

This cable runs from transmission by the air filter box, under battery, through firewall, then to lower left hand dash. Hoses on top of transmission make the park release cable hard to see.

SSM 51184
2020-2022 Escape/Corsair, 2021-2022 Bronco Sport - Hiss Or Rattle Noise While Driving - Manual Park Release Cable Some 2020-2022 Escape/Corsair vehicles built on or before 17-May-2022 and 2021-2022 Bronco Sport vehicles built on or before 25-Feb-2022 may exhibit a hiss or rattle noise while driving. This may be due to an internal issue with the manual park release cable. If the noise is eliminated when the cable is disconnected from the transmission, install a new manual park release cable assembly LX6Z-7D246-T. Refer to the Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 307-05 > Automatic Transmission
External Controls > Removal and Installation.

Also:
Noise is very noticeable around 25mph:
SSM 50274 - 2021 Bronco Sport - Hiss Or Rattle Noise While Driving - Manual Park Release Cable. Some 2021 Bronco Sport vehicles may exhibit a hiss or rattle noise while driving. This may be due to an internal issue with the manual park release cable. If the noise is eliminated when the cable is disconnected from the transmission, install a revised manual park release cable part number LX6Z-7D246-S following Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 307-05.

Thanks for the info. I will be using this if It needs to be replaced.

This just started after 21k miles. I tried a little troubleshooting this morning. I went thru the procedure of pulling the cable to disengage Park and then restoring it too normal.

Only drove it for a mile or so but I'm sure the buzzing noise is gone, for now anyway. We'll see what happens after putting on some extended miles.

If it returns, I'll decide whether to have it replaced or keep going thru the procedure. Anyway, I'll have some info for the service department to digest.

There's a lot of stuff in the way of the cable as you noted, so I'm hoping to stay away from the service department if at all possible. Maybe avoiding any other problems that may be caused by repairing this issue. Not that ever happens!

A quick update. I drove my BL about 15 miles today and so far, the buzzing noise is gone.

My experiment with pulling the park release cable has worked. If anyone is in the situation with the high pitch buzzing noise, it's most likely the park release cable causing it.

Try doing this to see if it clears up like mine did. I'm riding this horse until if and when the noise returns and then I'll decide if a visit to my service center is in the cards or if i just keep releasing the cable when needed.

If it returns, I'll will take it to the dealer. I have the extended warranty so not sure if I'll have to pay the $50 deductible or if the SSM is covered.

At least I know what the issue is if they try to give me the run around.
