I've done a quick search here and in the manual, no joy. Is there a way to open the tailgate from inside the vehicle? My wife is on a camping trip, sleeping in the car, and she can't find a way out other than via the side-doors. Not the end of the world, but she'd like to emerge into the SUV tent rather than the full glare of publicity in the mornings (she's currently sleeping without the SUV tent). Thanks

Yes, the button to the left of the headlight knob:

I’ve let her know, thank you so much. I thought I’d memorized every bit of the car but I must have missed that panel. I knew the lights were there but not the other controls. Thanks again!

There is nothing in the owners manual (24) about using the dashboard hatch release button. I just was recently looking for using the button because I apparently found what I a quirk with the inside door release. At least with mine. I have used the dashboard button when I am stopped at a supermarket to load packages in the trunk. While in park with the engine running I push the button then get out to lift the hatch and the hatch is released from closed but still does not open. I have to hit the button a second time to fully release the hatch. If the engine is turned off. - no problem. If I get out of the BS and open the rear hatch from the button on the hatch, no problem. But I did learn something new today while researching. I cannot find anything in the owners manual to say this is normal but I did find this on page 68 about opening the rear doors from inside:

Opening a Rear Door from the Inside:
Pull the interior door handle twice to unlock and open a rear door. The first pull unlocks the door and the second pull opens the door.

And very few people will know that in a sudden emergency.

My 2022 key fob has the "press 2 times" button for the rear hatch. She could use that (if the fob has that button). Cheers!

If it's an emergency you will try the door more than once. The two pulls is actually easier than looking for and releasing the lock switch on the door panel.

Thanks. I think that just unlocks it rather than releases it. I suggested that operation to her last night and nothing happened (car was already unlocked). I’ll confirm one way or another when I get to the campsite later today.

EDIT: can confirm, she's tried again whilst being considerably more awake than last night! It just unlocks the tailgate but doesn't release it. You need to use the external handle to open it and that fits with the manual:

"Press the button twice within three seconds. The liftgate unlocks for 45 seconds, during which time you can open the liftgate using the outside control button"

Annoying, really!

Side-note, as a recent arrival in North America (only been here in Canada six years), when did "liftgate" become the word for a tailgate? The manual uses both terms, sometimes even in the same sentence.

It releases it. I can push it open from inside after using the fob. Cheers!

Plot thickens. I'm reluctant to get my wife to try it again (life would not be worth living). Maybe it's a 2025 difference? I'll be reunited (with wife and car) later so I'll try it (subtly, without letting her know :) )
