I bought my OEM crossbars used. Within a year, the bolts created a vibrating sound due to stripped bolts, placed by the original owner. I have since gotten rid of the OEM crossbars.

unsure whether your bolt is stripped or the crossbar threads are stripped
compare thread height near shoulder to the remainder of threads
thread channel on bolt appears filled with pulled material from crossbar
guessing crossbar threads are aluminum and bolt is steel
if anything is going to strip it will be the aluminum
if you would like to confirm the bolt integrity
run a correctly sized nut up and down the bolt as a thread confirmation
good luck to you OP

closer look also indicates possible misalignment occurred
shoulder of bolt is the actual seating component of bolt
the bolt head is just meant to secure the two pieces in place
shoulder may have incorrectly seated on wrong surface (see arrows)
deformation of metal occurred where shoulder may have had contact
if shoulder sat where intended the stripping would not have occurred
shoulder would have completed the stop where intended
bolt head would be in place just to lock in place NOT tighten

Excellent observation.

Sorry your having trouble with your bolts Mine kept coming loose. A couple times the torx bolts were so loose a carwash ripped the front one off. I had the off-road version bars. Not suitable torx head on bolts kept stripping not good for carrying anything safely. I trashed mine and bought bars that directly bolt to the OEM roof bars.

Here's a related thread:
https://www.broncosportforum.com/forum/threads/oem-crossbars-hardware.10542/page-2#post-182283

It's easy to see how one or more of these bolts, and/or the threaded hole, might get cross-threaded -- esp by someone who 'don't know their own strength.'

See my post, #20.
These are not standard shoulder bolts. These are automotive specific bolts. That being said, I changed mine out with standard socket head cap screws. The post Sherman lists above has more information.
