I'd just settle for the 2.0 in my Outer Banks.
I was concerned about the 1.5L when purchasing my OBX, but I have been satisfied with performance so far.

Since a lot of people buy them for the looks but don't necessarily need the off-road capabilities, an easy path would be a more on road focused Bronco Sport ST, and if they wanted to do something along the line Raptor without the focus on clearance and crawling, Bronco Rally Sport is another path they could take
This would be much better. There are way too many off road vehicles already.
Lower it a bit, stiffen it up, a couple more HP. Throw in a new goat mode that's like sport but with tcs off. Call it Rally. Some cosmetic stuff to differentiate it in the line up.

Updates like that and it's a $50K+ Bronco Sport. I fought with myself about having to pay $40K for my OB.

I prefer the 2.0L but do agree with you on the 1.5. Though, I haven't driven up a steep hill yet.
