Just did my oil change at 7,551 miles (initial oil change was at a dealer at 2,500). Taking off the Rival skid plate took about 8 minutes (10 bolts); removing the yellow plug and draining oil is not an issue as long as you slowly pull out the plug and hold it to control the oil flow. Installed the Ronin plug; note that while it installs just as the Ronin video says to do it (with cutout in 7 oclock, twist until it clicks in the 12 oclock position, the orientation and the final install kind of wigged me out. I expected the wave spring to be compressed and the wide flange to sit flush with the face of the oil pan and the video indicates that the Ronin symbol would be vertically oriented. Instead, you have about a 1/8" gap between the plug flange and the oil pan and the symbol is slightly rotated. Wrote to Ronin and they said it was installed correctly.

altogether, took about 45 minutes of which about 15-20 minutes was fiddling with removing and reinstalling the Rival skid plate. Overall, a painless experience. Used drive up ramps to elevate the front.

I changed my oil and the Ronin plug was awesome. Nice and relaxed oil drain with no mess. If you change your own oil this is a godsend in my eyes.

3 months ago I picked one of these up and I have to say that I’m chomping at the bit (could be a Bronco reference)to change my oil again. The Ronin plug is waiting for me on the shelf.

Well, my BS Outer Banks had the change oil display although I only have about 3,600 or so miles. I have been looking around for some inexpensive oil changes and it has been a frustrating experience. I first stopped by AAA and was shocked to get a quote of $128. Next, I stopped by Pep Boys and got a similar quote $126-$20 off with a coupon. Walmart had a $58 price on full synthetic oil change but said that they are required to change the plastic drain plug and they do not stock those. Anyone found a chain that can do these at a reasonable price?

Some ford dealerships in my area will do the works full synthetic for $160 for a package of 3
