My BS Big Bend all of a sudden there is a strong raw gas smell in the passenger compartment. We have 50,223 kms (31,000 miles) on 2023 1,5 ltr. It's been there for a week. We called the dealer and it can't been looked at until Sept 21/26 (3weeks) or we could drive or tow it in and maybe we'll get it back before that date.
We also have a 2014 F150 that needs the cam phasers replaced, we got a date of 6 weeks. Outside of this Canadian dealer we have a US Ford dealer but their quoted price was double the Canadian dealer. Our other Ford dealers are over 120 miles away. Gotta love Ford.

Wow Al, I guess you are rather limited down there, still a bit crazy. Steeltown in Selkirk is usually able to get me in for critical issues within a week or so. I would be cautious on driving the BB with the fuel odor as it could be related to the fuel rial/injector recall with risk of fire.

Our dealer and others within 150 miles of Greenville,SC have a 4 month waiting list if you need a loaner vehicle. I had to go to our salesmanager and have a heart to heart talk. He gave me a vehicle and pushed ours through to get it in while on the i3yr/36,000 warranty. Had it 4 weeks
They are all so backed up on factory recalls they can’t get anything done,

When you fill your tank do you run fuel in slow and stop were it first clicks off ?
Or keep adding more to top the tank off? If topping it offf you get liquid gas in the vapor return line which can damage the charcoal filter in the vapor return system causing your issue.
There may be other issues that are possible.

We never overfill, when it clicks off, that's it. We stripped the rear down to metal and noticed some gas residue in one of the indents. So we are going to be watching that for a bit.

Ok I admit I missed your point. Care to elaborate!
No!

Because it wasn’t directed at you.

Was just a funny meme with the problems some people have.

That’s very interesting. If you don’t mind let me know what you find. Rarely we get a wife of gas odor. We bought new, never top off. These ra unusual 100+ days in our area have me wondering if I am getting over expansion in the tank on hot days when I don’t drive as much.

I always go one click over in the Phoenix metro area (100+ for months on end and 110+ in my garage), and have NEVER had an over-expansion incident in any car, including the BS. Gas fumes in the car are absolutely an immediate concern, and something the dealer or qualified shop should treat as a critical safety item.

If you are getting the gas smell regularly I would not drive it unless you can keep windows down clearing the smell out, gas fumes are very carcinogenic..
Ford had to buy back two different model cars back to back in 1996. Under the lemon law. No one could find the issue. A money loser.

Unfortunately we don't have a lemon law in Canada

Regarding your F150 Cam Phasers, I came across a Google video lately that pointed out that often times cam phasers are incorrectly diagnosed as bad when its caused by incorrect oil weight or levels that do not allow the phasers proper lube or pressure to operate properly.

A good video about how to keep your motor running a long long time!!
