This is exactly what happened with mine. The first time it did it, started back up. The next time it did it. Was dead. Needed a new battery. Was at about 55,000 miles.

Mine was bad gas...really bad gas... the yellow is Shell Premium...the blue stuff won't burn or evaporate.

I've always been leery of vandalism, and have equipped vehicles I've owned with a locking gas door (if they did not have one as well).

Did you show this to the Shell station you bought the fuel from? Perhaps others that purchased there have also reported it...or was it vandalism to your vehicle?

That looks like blue Diesel additive. aka adBlue or Blue DEF
They are injected into the exhaust, not into the fuel system.

I got a half tank at the station, it was reported and is now in the hands of the insurance companies.

There were others and reported now in insurance hands.

If that station offers a pump for diesel users to add Blue DEF to their holding containers, then its very likely that the delivery tanker filled it into the wrong station holding tank!

It would make me wonder what he/she put into the diesel holding tank...or Blue DEF holding tank.

It’s contained in a reservoir separate from the fuel tank and is metered into the engine’s exhaust stream to control certain emissions. Inside the exhaust pipe, the DEF vaporizes and decomposes into ammonia and carbon dioxide. Those two compounds then react with oxygen and detrimental nitrogen oxides inside the vehicle’s selective catalytic reduction (SCR) catalyst. This produces three benign tailpipe gases: nitrogen, water vapor, and carbon dioxide.
