I recently purchased a 2022 Bronco Sport Badlands. Had toyo tires installed with plans of having a lift installed. After a lot of research seems there is indeed at two lift kits built for this vehicle. However after speaking to someone at a place called High Standards 4x4 in Lakeland ,Fl , I became very discouraged about lifting it as I was told that its basically a car chassis and he personally advises it not to lift it as it is not a real off-road vehicle. Anyone has any more input concerning this issue. Don't mean to beat a dead horse but would like to hear other peoples thoughts.

one mans opinion
personally, a small tire clearance lift is all I would consider.

Two assertions in that sentence, one true and the other false. Yes, it's a car chassis, but it is a real off-road vehicle in that it has the capability to perform real off-road driving. It has less capabilities than larger body on frame vehicles, but not enough less to disqualify it from being a real off-road vehicle. It is one of the few SUV/CUVs that can do real off-roading.

You’re only going a little bit. Not enough to cause issues. Honestly I would leave the badlands at stock height and run it that way. And I have a lift in mine

Also, just look at the HRG youtube channel. That guy does some "real off-roading" in a BS.

First of all that guys an asshole don’t give him your money.

Secondly you’re in Florida, I wonder how much -real off roading- all those lifted pickups do down there anyway?

What does “real” even mean? The Bronco Sport isn’t a real vacuum cleaner either.

Are there vehicles made that are more capable in off-road conditions than your Bronco Sport? Yes. On the other hand, there are many more vehicles made that are far LESS capable in off-road conditions than your Bronco Sport. Learn how to drive it off-road—especially its limitations—and you’ll go places 90% of other vehicles can’t go, and have terrific fun doing it.

BTW, show this to the dingbat who told you your car isn’t a “real” off-road vehicle.

I'm not from Florida, but they have everglades and it is even a featured model for the full size bronco with a snorkel. It might be true where he is not to be a true off road vehicle cause of the limitations of water fording, but that certainly just one aspect of off roading. Sounds like a very narrow minded mechanic.

People lift unibody vehicles all the time, and most companies use a global platform for most of their vehicles now, so there's a lot of "car chassis" that go off road. Also, don't listen to someone who wants to tell you what a 'real off road' vehicle is, especially if you didn't present a use case.

It sounds like you went to the circus and spoke with a clown.

The fact of the matter is the Bronco Sport Badlands is a very capable off-roader. I know of several Jeep Badge of Honor Trails that stock BSBs have conquered without taking body damage.

In Florida they do a lot of swamping/mudding and that's probably not one of the BSB stronger suits, but by the same token I wouldn't want to take a purpose built mudder over the Imogene Pass, something that's been done by a stock BSB on multiple occasions. Horses for courses as they say.

My suggestion would be to get out on the trail, start slowly and build up your confidence in the vehicle and yourself. Better yet, go to a Bronco Off-Roadeo if you can. You'll come out of that with a completely new perspective on the BSB capabilities. You'll find that trails rated 1-4 are really no problem and many 5s and 6s are doable as well, depending on what types of obstacles give the trail it's rating.

I've had a few people tell me my BSB isn't really made to go offroad and I then proceed to show them this snippet of video of a stock BSB climbing Hell's Gate in Moab and it pretty much ends the conversation.

Plenty of youtube videos out there showing Bronco Sports doing real off roading.

Many ppl on this forum have lifted their sports. Plenty of threads if you search. A couple different spacer lifts available and I believe someone install a spring lift kit too.

The Hells Gate portion of the video…that guy is an amazing driver (he’s a pro I know) and has a ton of courage.

To those who don’t know it’s not uncommon to have modded out jeeps etc roll there.

Yep, it's no joke.

There's another video of a Bronco Sport Badlands that's lifted and has bigger tires basically flying up the thing, and it's only after he's finished that the driver realizes he never locked the rear differential.

So while you're not going to run King of Hammers in it, the BSB is way more capable than most people imagine. The limiting factor for most of us will be our skill and guts, not the BSB's capabilities.

The Bronco Sport is extremely capable and the guy is being biased based on the frame which is not fair. I have a Jeep Gladiator and a FJ Cruiser and still would in no way ever diss the BS. The BS deserves more respect than people give it.
