This summer I plan to do some travelling with my wife and two daughters who still live near us. It looks like the cargo area will be packed and the top level of luggage will start above the tops of the rear seats. I would hate to hit the brakes and launch a carry-on sized piece of luggage into the head of a passenger!

I'm thinking of using a small cargo net fastened to the four metal tie downs just above the floor of the cargo area to prevent this scenario. My thought was to connect the "front" of the net to the front two rings and push the net into the back seat, load the luggage, pass the "back" of the net over the top of the luggage, and use two ratcheting straps to connect it to the two rear tie downs.

If you have any better ideas could you please share them with me?

Thanks in advance,

Mike

Another option is a pet security gate for automobiles. They attach behind the rear seat. That might be easier than the net. They have them on Amazon.

My thoughts exactly. There are several types, ranging from fabric mesh to wire cage to solid transparent barriers. Most are semi-universal in fit and removable.

Thank you for the suggestion. I never would have thought of that and it sounds a heck of a lot easier than the cargo net!
