Hi all. New to the forum and looking for an assist on an upgrade. Considering swapping out my clot seats in my BL for a leather set from a OB. That set would include a 6 way adjustable passenger seat, which would replace the current manual seat. My current assumption is that since there is only a single wiring harness for all of these models, I should be able to replace the seats and pop in a new fuse to the proper spot, and the power passenger seat should work.

Am I right about that? Hoping to get a response from someone more knowledgable than myself before attempting.

Side note, the set would also include a driver door panel with a memory button. My assumption is that this would likely NOT work after installation.

Thanks in advance for any help! Really is appreciated. If this is all possible, I'd be happy to create a build thread if anyone is interested.

I upgraded my base seats to OB leather and only got the passenger side in so far. No power to it. The plug fits 😑 but it's not Plug and Play. It's "Plug and Dealership visit" for me I guess. So I presume the control module has to be told of the new setup. Also my airbag light is on, so that also indicates of a dealership visit because of the new seats.

Or maybe I should just swap the seat sensors? That might cure the airbag light but Im not sure why there's no power to it. I can't imagine it's power comes from a control module. I'll play around with it and see 😕

Ah, shoot. I wish I could say that I'm surprised, but I started the thread because I had that sinking feeling. I guess I should check though, did you put a new fuse in for the power passenger seat? I keep meaning to check to see if there's already one in place in my BS, but I assumed that there wouldn't be one... Looking at the fuse map, it looks like there are separate fuses for heated seats and for power passenger seats.

Thanks for letting me know, btw. Sorry you got bit on that. It's a cool upgrade if you can get it to work... is this a job for forscan?

So after watching a YouTube video it looks like ForScan can handle it. Looks like the heated seats are enabled through the APIM.

Getting to the fuse panel looks to be a little bit of a challenge and it's too cold right now 😒

But I'm pretty sure it can ultimately be a DIY job

Just a couple hurdles or obstacles to overcome

Not sure if you should take this as good news or bad news (depends on if you are a glass half full kind of guy), but the weather is milder down here, so I finally decided to poke around at the engine fuse box, and it looks like my Badlands with a heated but manual passenger seat does have a 30 A fuse already sitting in slot #45 where the power passenger seat is located. That doesn't 100% mean that you do have a fuse in the right spot, but I think it probably is leaning that way.

So good news is that you don't have to brave the cold, bad news is that we are back to trying to identify the proper codes to activate the power seats.

Went to the salvage yard and got 2 pig tails (plugs) from a Sport that had power seats.

It has waaaaay more wires than mine inside the hard shell (connector) So there's no way it was going to work when I plugged them in.

Besides that, even if I do get power to them AND use ForScan to unlock the heated seat function in the APIM it still has to communicate with the element somehow to let it know to turn off and on.

I'm not sure what the infotainment screen turns off/on but I'm pretty sure just wiring up the pig tails that I bought will still NOT give my newish seats full functionality.

So to summarize, the 5 wire connectors that are in my Bronco now lack the necessary wires to make things easy on me.

I have an appointment this coming Monday at a dealership to hopefully unlock module features for me and take care of the airbag light issue

While you were at the salvage yard and having a toolbox full of tools you could have spent the day tracing those power seat pigtails and disassembling every thing in your way until you can get the entire harness and every module it connects to laid out neatly onto the ground

Just kidding of course

Or perhaps the wiring diagram for the vehicle with power seats would help but Ford’s wiring diagrams leave a lot of info out

Hope you figure it out!!

Enabling the heated seats themselves is done in the HVAC here. My 2021 with heated seats has an 8 there for intergrated front heated seats. On these vehicles, the heated seats are turned on using the HVAC and not the touchscreen, so there is no need to enable it in the APIM. Our BS with OEM heated seats has heated seats disabled in both the APIM and IPC.

Looks like this may not be as simple as putting heated seats in and enabling them. At the very least, a different HVAC will be needed.

Three different variations of the HVAC controls. These 3 models are for Broncos that DONT have dual zone climate adjustability

There are also others that look almost the same BUT control driver and passenger side climates.

But since my '21 Bronco doesn't have that capability then I would guess "JD" "LD" models would work best.

So I'll buy one, install it and hope my vehicle doesn't explode. It won't. But I presume it should still function even if all the features are not enabled. Though I don't know. Yet
The dual zone a/c option piqued my interest. I wonder if all if all it needs is a different HVAC for that to work? Time to start digging around.

Edit: It's been done. Time to start my next project on the BS.

2nd edit: Ours already has dual zone a/c. I don't think I need to go on this mission just to have the digital temps there. Not anymore since I can see it on the touchscreen.

Getting the digital temp on the dials would have been a trivial swap when you did the disassembly for the Sync 3.4 to Sync 4 project
