Previously I had a 2021 Badlands. I traded that in on a 2025 Badlands last October.

My confusion was with the Lane Keeping & Lane Centering on the 2025 BL. If I remember correctly my 2021 had 2 switches, 1 on the end of the turn signal stalk and 1 on the left steering wheel pad.

I don't remember what switch controlled which function.

On my 2025 I have Adaptive cruise control and lane centering checked on the center screen menu. I use ACC all the time on the highway.

When I use ACC, sometimes I prefer to turn off the lane centering feature without going into the screen menu. That actually can be done by hitting the lane keeping button on the steering wheel, but it keeps ACC active.

I didn't realize that I was also turning off the lane keeping feature when I thought it was just turning off lane centering. At the next startup I noticed the lane keeping wasn't working but didn't corollate I had turned it off when using the ACC. That button can work for both functions.

I thought I had issues with the lane keeping function until the light went on in my brain housing group and I knew what the real issue was, me.

So, I unchecked the lane centering box in the screen cruise control menu, don't really need it, but kept the ACC checked. It's a learning curve, always.

Hope I didn't confuse anyone more than I was, but with just 1 button vs 2 in my 2021, it sure confused me, which isn't too hard at my age. I'm a slow learner sometimes.

I have a 21 and if my memory serves me correctly, you're right. The switch on the end of the stalk is lane keeping (prevents you from drifting out of your lane - to me this is like a coarse safety feature for large errors) and switch on the left steering wheel pad is lane centering (more like a fine self driving assist feature for small errors) to help you stay in the middle of your lane. I hope I am not getting the names confused.

I can't speak to the 25, but I believe your recollection of the 21 function is accurate.

Can you please post a pic of your 2025 steering wheel that clearly shows the functions on the left side buttons and right side buttons? Or 2 pics, one for each side.

(Or I could just look at a 2025 owners manual but sometimes manuals aren’t accurate)
I’m guessing those steering wheel buttons might be specific to options that came with the vehicle but am just curious about the 2025/6 models

I have a 2022 and I disabled both lane keeping and lane centering - too many situations where these didn’t work correctly and I felt were dangerous

Thanks for the pic, my 2022 has those same steering wheel controls

Your post above if I’m reading it correctly, differs from the operation stated below:

On my 2022:

Ford Co-Pilot360 includes:
• Lane-Keeping System (Lane-Keeping Aid, Lane-Keeping Alert and Driver Alert System)

“Button on left stalk: Turn Lane Keeping System on or off”

Ford Co-Pilot360 Assist+
• Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop-and-Go and Lane Centering

“Steering Wheel Controls on Left control pod:
Bottom left button: Lane Centering Indicators on/off“

The button on the steering wheel is for lane keeping, on & off. But if you have lane keeping on thru the center screen menu and ACC activated it will turn off lane centering if pushed.

To turn off lane centering, that's done on the center screen in the cruise control menu.

On the 2025 there is no switch on the turn signal stalk.

I posted for my 2022, button on the steering wheel is for lane centering

“Steering Wheel Controls on Left control pod:

Just seemed odd to me Ford changed the definition of that button from ‘21-‘24 vs ‘25-‘26

Cost cutting a few bucks by eliminating the turn signal stalk button.

The attachments show that both lane keeping and lane centering can be controlled by the same button on the steering wheel.

Less confusing with 2 separate buttons.

I'm pretty sure the button on the left side pad doesn't just turn off the lane centering indicators (at least while while ACC is enabled), but that's from memory. I played with both buttons when I first got it to see what each did. Maybe that's what it does when ACC is off?

I'll try again next time I drive it and see what it does. I'm pretty sure it displays a message that said something to the effect that lane centering is disabled.

@wireman did you notice the pic you posted of your actual 2025 left buttons on the steering wheel does not match the owners manual pics in the PDFs you posted for the lane keeping/lane centering? The descriptions for those buttons is confusing with one button having both the lane keeping/lane centering function (as you pointed out in your initial post)

Since you have a 2021 you have the steering wheel button and the one on the turn signal stalk.

2025 is different animal.

I see that. The owners manual also says 0W-20 for the 2.0L but the online manual says 5W-30.

Who knows what else is inaccurate.

I’ll have to test drive a 2025 or 2026 to test out all combinations of lane keeping, lane centering functions in conjunction with the single shared lane keeping/lane centering button on the left steering wheel pod and with the Adaptive cruise control and lane centering checked / unchecked on the center screen menu

The owners manual PDFs don’t answer the remaining questions I have lol

if I owned a 2025/6 I’d likely never or rarely enable lane keeping, lane centering functions because in driving my 2022 I found many situations where road conditions confused the vehicle - or maybe the camera and software is much more robust on the 2025/6

I've used both, and it's not bad. It can be confused by tar snakes depending on the sun angle (but I think most of these types of systems have the same issue), and I haven't tested it in inclement weather.

I think best use case is longer highway drives to take a little off the driver. Pretty much a non-starter in town or on busy in-city highways, but outside of that I kinda like it.

The base ACC is pretty good, my only issue is it's a bit too twitchy on responses to traffic entering your lane within the set distance. I'd like a little more measured, gradual response when it's obviously not a panic stop situation.

Agree on the ACC overreacting to certain situations. I shut off the lane centering.
It does work but till the net long trip it will remain off.
