I was at my Ford dealer yesterday to pick up an accessor. While there I was discussing oil changes with the service manager. He said that if I needed service (other than oil changes) it would take 3 weeks to get an appointment and then it would sit in the shop for 10 days before they looked at it!

Hate to say it...welcome to 2022...supply chain, worker shortages, it's everywhere, not just your dealership. Things have gone down hill quickly over the last two years in every industry. Ordered two golf clubs for my son as he needs customs as tall as he is...it's been two months because the parts still aren't here from the suppliers. It's a lot more trivial than service to your vehicle but it's the green new world.

Yep labor shortages, parts shortages, and its across all industries. And doesn't seem like any end in sight.

Well sometimes not so lucky... I'm waiting for a part now 8 weeks since my appointment, but I'm lucky I can still drive it.

It's 3 months here for a service appt. I have an Escape that has sat most of the last 17 months in our garage as it has had one little issue after another. It's crazy the way everything is falling apart.

Even when you get it into the shop the techs are terrible. You get subpar parts installed by subpar techs. Mine has been fucked up more by Ford than me. Would be cheaper in the long run to pay out of pocket to a good Indy shop than having to go back over and over for ford warranty/shop work that is trash work. I have 2500 miles on mine and will not use another Ford shop unless I have absolutely no choice. And Ford corporate basically says sorry about your luck.

Make the appt for 3 weeks out the add 10 days before you really want it done, then drive over and tell them you will be back in 10 days to save them shop space!!! :cwl:

Or like hair appts. Right now make 1 appt every 2 weeks for the next year. If nothing needs to get done cancel the appt the day before!

But not enough influence/power to keep our economy from falling in the toilet when our people and our government makes stupid decisions.

the idea is, things are bad all over, we aren't space-ial
the 1 stupid thing rubs me is oil refiners who having cut capacity during the pandemic find it impossible to ramp back up. but to be fair they are raking in the bucks at a record pace.

Goes deeper,
You cut capacity by stopping certain systems not throttling back. Now to restart you need to tear down, clean out and or replace stuff.
Next you stop pumping all your lower output wells, the pressures are down anyways and you make less on those so they go idle.
Certain ones will need to be re pressurized to start producing. This takes time and money.
Prices soar so you do a slow restart.
No need to do anything really.
Besides we all know we do better economically when the republicans are running things.
It’s always been that way.
I’m the CEO of big oil, I tell my shareholders all this inflation will help us get rid of these socialist democrats sooner. And then we can get back to making money.
Truth !
Almost forgot, who ever helped put that idiot in charge owes me gas money !

My motorcycle needs a rear coil. It’s been on back order for over a month. Have looked everywhere, same story.

Ahem, getting back to making money?
On average, the companies made $1.2 billion more with many even doubling their profits when comparing the first quarters of 2022 and 2021 based on their own reporting.
Maybe it is just a political ploy and we're all paying for it. Not just at the pump, every product and service we pay for has an energy cost. It's an old ploy, not me, look over there.
