Has anyone out there installed the 2.5 inch version of this kit on a Badlands? Skid Plates? The front bumper skid plate would have saved me thousands already. I’ve been considering this kit but wanted input first before purchasing it.

I currently run 245/65 R17 Mickey Thompson Baja Boss AT on OE wheels.

I purchased the kit and took it to a reputable 4WD shop. They said they weren't comfortable installing it. I don't remember the reason now.

I sent the kit back and got the 1.5" lift. HRG charged me a 20% restocking fee, because the packages had been opened. I've been happy with the 1.5" lift, and my new 235/70R17 tires will add another 1/2".

I had a local shop in Hendersonville tell me that they didn’t want to do it because it is a total body lift and that they weren’t really equipped to do that type of lift….

The reason is guess is the car is independent suspension all around and to lift it that high it puts the axles at crazy angles so they have to also include subframe drop spacers to get them back online with the car and not at such crazy angles it's not that big of a deal but it is a decent bit different than slapping in some pucks still I'd be surprised any shop isn't setup to install that now if they found possible quality issues with it maybe but my HRG spacers up front were great and have been for months at least but I have air suspension and I love it but it is a very much more expensive option and it's not right for most people. But that is a drastic lift and will effect numerous things. I'd also love to hear from someone who did it and how it was.

So I guess I'm not much help but in other vehicles with similar sib frame all independent suspension I've always gone more conservative. If this is your daily it will effect a lot and is that one inch worth it. I'm mean how often are you off-road too? This is good off-road for what it is but it's still based on an escape and can only do souch and take so much and be altered so much. If you can't find anyone whose done it it might be for a good reason but that's all speculation from me.

Another point to add is the lift shop guy told me going from 1.5" to 2.5" won't allow you to install larger tires anyway, so it's not worth it. Plus you can buy skid plates from other vendors if you go with the HRG 1.5"

Yeah that's a good point from what I've read. Unless you get like different Wheels with different offset or do like wheel spacers or something and even then I'm not sure how much more, you can't go bigger than the 245 65 r17 tires or equivalent if you turn the tires at full lock at full articulation which is something that's going to happen if you're going off-road without doing some major modifications. I know guys have said they've gone bigger but the question is did they actually really off-road it and really checked. Not just turning it. Lock to lock on level ground but with one of the tires or both of the tires raised up or drooping all the way

Did you have an alignment done post lift? Maybe its the photos but it looks like you have a lot of positive camber (top of the wheel tilting out) which will happen with a taller lift, did you install the replacement chamber bolts?

Took it for alignment as the steering wheel was off by maybe half an inch and did not need the camber bolts.

I'd probably go with the 1.5" lift like the other guys said - seems like the 2.5" is more hassle than it's worth if shops don't want to touch it and you can't run bigger tires anyway.
