His opinion on Wheels and Tires Video

I thought I'd post this as I have commented, to his video and his response and It's a subject I've been thinking about a lot.

I sort of recommended he get the Mickey Thompson Baja Boss A/T, a true Hybrid tire, a cross between a MT and an AT, with 16/32 of tread depth but watch and read.

Old enough to recall how Sears did a similar "adjustment" to products.
Apparently Ford has found a niche to utilize the Sears method of tweaking a specific design "just so" to make you reliant on them.

Adapters will be the way to move forward
IIRC the big bronco gang had the same gripe with wheels and calipers so it might be not unique to BS wheels

Lots of vehicles come with 17" tires. The problem is not the rim diameter but the lack of heavy lugged tire selection in the particular size needed on the BS. Even if it was possible to step down to a 16", selection is still limited in the equivalent diameter sizes, i.e. 235 70-16.

I think Ford gave up on 15" in the 1990s and 16" are on their way out for most vehicles.

Who is this guy and why should I care what he thinks? I couldn't bear to watch the entire video because it was painful, but from my experience with other vehicles he is way off on popular wheel sizes. 15's are on their way out and 16's have always been limited. I have found plenty of wheels and tires to fit the BS.

Just a quick look on Tire Rack or Discount Tire for wheels and/or tires for the BS will return a very long list of options. I’m guessing this person has specific brands of wheels/tires that they want but those brands don’t offer options in sizes for the BS.

On some level I agree with you, he does tend to ramble but if you watch some of his videos, I think he has potential,. he just hasn't got there yet.

Every auto manufacturer looks for ways to differentiate its vehicles from other models it manufactures as well other vehicles from other manufacturers in the segment. This is much ado about nothing. Further, some of what he says is simply wrong.

For example, Maxwellian has already put 16" wheels with 235/70R16 BFG K02s on his Badlands. This is the same diameter as the OEM 235 Falkens, but with 1/2 inch more sidewall height. Many owners have put 245/65R17 tires on their Bronco Sports, so we know you could safely move up to a 245/70R16 with no worries about rubbing.

I believe either combination of 235/70R16 or 245/70R16 will prove to be very capable off-road wheel/tire packages. BFG offers the 245/70R16 in an LT version. On a light vehicle like the Bronco Sport that tire should be all but indestructible on the trail, albeit probably not a very good road tire. My plan is to purchase a set of wheels/tires in this size and use them for off-road adventures. The rest of the time I'll keep the Falkens on.

All that aside, there are a plethora of options for tires in both 16" and 17" for this vehicle. I can't imagine anyone not being able to find something to suit their needs.

I believe he's looking for heavy-lug mud-terrain type tires. If 16" wheels can in fact be used then BFG has their MT KM3 tire available in a 235-70/16. For 17" one would need to step up to a 245-70/17 to get Goodyear Wrangler MT/R or Duratrac, or Cooper ST-Maxx.

There may be others but this is based on a quick Tire Rack search.
