The first number tells you the tire width. The second tells you the height of the sidewall as a percentage of the width. You can compare the two at www.tiresize.com.thank you for the grace, brother…but am still confused…seeing both

All other things equal, a tire with a shorter sidewall will provide better handling, but reduced ride quality. That said, the difference between these two tire sizes is negligible. You would be better off comparing the quality of the tires rather than trying to decide which of these two sizes is "better."
Both Discount Tire (site supporter) and Tire Rack offer online reviews of specific tire models from different manufacturers. If you want to compare two different tires (not just different sizes) that's where I would start.
