Called the salesman I've known for 30+ years with the VIN number of one on their lot and gave him my X-plan code. 2 days later I was driving a new vehicle.

My father worked at the "Glass House" Production and Options Programming department for 37.5 years when he finally retired in 1995. He was on a first name basis with every assembly plant manager in NA. When I would order a vehicle, he would ask for the order number and he would call the plant manager. They would place my build sheet on the next body that was headed to paint. I told the salesman I would be back in 2 weeks to pick up my vehicle. He called me exactly 2 weeks later to tell me my vehicle was ready for pickup.

I’m likely looking at the last week of July by the time I take delivery, so 7-8 months total, give or take.

The amazing part is most of the 2 weeks was transportation logistics. The car was actually rolling off the assembly line in less than 36 hours.
