Hauling Plywood

Back in the day, my full size Bronco had roof racks wide enough and long enough that I could tie four sheets of 3/4 inch on and be perfectly secure. Later on, I managed to get two sheets home on my Explorer. I thought my DIY days were over, but apparently not so. Has anyone carried plywood on their Bronco Sport, and if so, what was their experience.

That’s why I got the tow package. That being said, I made some wooden roof racks for my early 80’s Mustang that I used over many trips to bring home material for a 15x20 deck some 40 years ago so it can be done!

I have a set of these strap ratchets on my Rhino cross bars. There is 48"+ between the eye bolt on the driver side and the ratchet on the passenger side. Makes carrying plywood or kayaks or darn near anything else a total breeze. I can throw on a few sheets of ply and be rolling in 2 minutes flat.

we haul plywood & 2x4s on the thule roof rack.
ive actually gotten sheets of drywall inside, just have to cut them in half.

I won't blame our bronco sports or Ford over this one (and no one here did as well).

I just use a truck when I need to haul large items that the Bronco is not equipped or designed for.
