The default Accessory Power Delay setting after engine shutoff is far too long for my purposes; I'd like to bring it down to under 30 seconds if possible, and instantly on door opening (don't even know if that's a thing with Fords, both my Kia's were like that and I got accustomed to it).

Rather than endlessly drifting through it all myself, I thought I'd check first with the brain trust and as if anyone knows where that's listed, and under what heading. I'm assuming it's in the BCM, but I'm probably wrong and would waste hours searching.

I agree it would be in the BCM. This is the only thing I see in there:

Ford Bronco Sport FORScan: Accessory Power Delay? 1778010347481-5k

This is from the 2025 Maverick spreadsheet. I pulled the config from a random 2025 BS and this is what it shows:

Ford Bronco Sport FORScan: Accessory Power Delay? 1778010468040-ww

03E8 converted to decimal is 1000 and 1000 milliseconds is one second. So I don't think that's what you're looking for. 🤣 Not everything can be changed....some things are hard-coded and cannot be altered. I am not saying this is one of them, but I don't see a way to change it.

Odd. I'm not sure what a 1 second delay is being used for, but I agree it's not accessory power. If 1 second is the default, I wonder why they would need the range out to 90 seconds. Regardless, I think I'll leave that one alone.

The main reason I wanted to lower it is my dashcam keeps running after parked for the entire accessory delay time and overheats badly just sitting there with no ventilation blowing on it. I've already come back to an "SD Card Error" a number of times and nearly blistered my fingers trying to turn it off manually (because I forgot to after parking).

I know, it's a "me problem". ;) Just need to remember to turn the darn thing off every time...

I think it may be the way your dash cam is wired. I didn't install mine myself......I paid my audio/video guy to do it. When I drive home tonight, I will try to see exactly when it turns off, but I have not noticed a significant delay in mine shutting off after I turn the ignition off.

It's just in one of the accessory tray USB-C ports on top of the dash.

My understanding is the BCM senses a draw on the USB and keeps power longer or until a threshold of battery is reached. I know there are camera kits to either extend or cut the camera draw. i.e. a box that senses the drop from engine on to acc power and it kills the camera so the delay doesn't drag out. You might look for a hardware solution instead of a software one?

Maybe the power point timer?
Agreed - i have not tried this myself yet, but from what i read, that should be the BCM parameter "Power Point Timeout, s" which is in Easy Mode in FORScan. My 2025 BS is unedited and set at 2700 (45 minutes) so you could test by setting that parameter real short and see if that cuts off the USB power promptly.

On the 2025 Maverick, power point timer is here in the BCM:

Ford Bronco Sport FORScan: Accessory Power Delay? 1778083739345-to

Pulled the config from a random 2025 BS and it shows this:

Ford Bronco Sport FORScan: Accessory Power Delay? 1778083768432-mz

0A8C is 2636 which is 44 minutes and lines up with what Vinny saw in easy mode. Looks like it is worth a try. To change this to 5 minutes or 300 seconds (for example):

726-21-01

xxxx xxxx 01xx

726-21-02

2Cxx xxxx xxxx

Or you can use easy mode and test it out.

Just did it in easy mode. I reset the value from the default 2700 to 30, and based on the result, I think that the values are in tenths of a second, not whole seconds.

On ignition off, it powers down right at three seconds, leading me to believe that a value of 300 would result in a 30-second delay, for example.

I’ll futz with it some more later trying different values and report back.

Just went to see if the value had held, and that's fine, even though the timeout seems to vary on engine shutdown. Not going to sweat that, as it's doing what I want within a reasonable amount of time.

I did encounter this, though:

Ford Bronco Sport FORScan: Accessory Power Delay? IMG_0191

No warnings or observable symptoms. I only noticed it when running FORScan to check on the delay timer.

When the stauts ends with the number 8 (status -48), it is a stored code and not an active fault that you need to be worried about.

So I got a 12V to USB adapter with the voltage display (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07K2XL6VX?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1), and everything seems copacetic so far. ~12.2V engine off/accessory on, 14.2V+ engine on, so the U0089 was likely transitory. I'ma check the negative to ground and make sure it's good'n'tight.

Or, just give it a shake, put my hands on my hips, and say the magic words: "That's not going anywhere."
