Ford cargo mat worth it in Outer Banks?

The Outer Banks has a nice, rubberized finish on the cargo floor, and it is removable, but it doesn't have lips on the sides (making me think that things could end up dripping into the spare-tire cavity, for example, melting snow from ski gear). Anyone taken a close look at both the mat and the stock OB floor for ease of cleanup after messy activities?

In my mind, it would have made sense for Ford to just put lips on the damn cargo floor, but I'm not an automotive engineer.

I ordered one with the car. Now that I have it, it seems redundant. If you have an OB it doesn't seem necessary.

Badlands here, with that option. I like the lip, for spill-control. The fact that it is entirely removable is also nice. Downside, it adds more weight, and makes accessing the under-deck spare tire area more fiddly ("handle" cut-out on the deck is not at the trailing-lip).

Honestly, the rubberized second-row seat backers are a much more valuable addition.

My OB came with the cargo mat option already on it and I probably would’ve added it on regardless. It does have the lip to prevent spills from leaking all over. Also, it’s a different rubberized material than what already comes in it. I tried to get some pics of the edge of it and also the difference between the mat and cargo floor.

Isn't the cargo floor on the Badlands more of a hard plastic and the rubber mat helps prevent things from sliding around?

I don't have a photo of my own handy (but parts photo link follows). The one for the Badlands I have has the same perimeter lip, but an overmold hump on the trailing edge to deal with the full sized-spare deck-lid.

I had to buy mine, but I think it looks great and I’m glad I did. Love that Bronco logo in the middle!

Same! The logo is my favorite too!
The cargo mat and all weather floor mats are one of the first things I buy in any car I first purchase. Just seems like a staple to me.

I had both of those on the order that we had placed, but it wasn't included with the one we ended up buying since waiting until 12/24 didn't seem appealing, and I didn't want to complicate a remote deal with trying to figure out what they had for accessories in stock, needing to wait to install, etc. After looking in the back of the car, I started to wonder.

The photos are helpful; do you have the tow package (and full size spare)?
