  1. $100 amazon gift card from Ford

Have those vehicles been shipped? The email mentioned "united at last" (which still isn't true for some, if not many); I wonder if Ford wanted to wait until mostly having the vehicles taken care of first. Getting a $100 gift card around the time the vehicle arrives probably leaves you with a...
  2. Plastic scratches easy

Good luck with that. The 13th gen F-150 uses something that seems identical for B-pillar trim, so it seems unlikely Ford is unaware how it performs. And yes, it will scratch if you look at it funny, which is even more annoying on a full size truck than a BS.
  3. June Builds sitting in the Mexican Desert

Interesting...my wife got here shipping info and the tracker shows an updated delivery date at the dealer, but the FDM recall is still outstanding (according to ETIS, at least). I wonder if the anticipated delivery date allows time for the FDM repair? (guessing not so much)
  4. Gross Vehicle Weight and Camping/Overlanding

Keep in mind that the payload may vary greatly within a vehicle range, and any manufacturer's statement of payload online is usually the maximum payload (often given by a particular spec, e.g. a stripped 2WD pickup with a heavy-payload package vs a more-common 4WD mid-range trim). It also tends...
  5. Waiting room

As noted above, we gave up on my wife's order a few weeks ago and managed to find one close enough to the order, albeit several hours' drive away. Finally got the last of the initial accessories installed today (door side moldings in hopes that they'll provide some parking-lot protection), and...
  6. Thule HD Crossbar Roof Rack System installed

Anyone put the Thule Evo 127 (50") crossbar on? It seems like they'd be plenty wide enough, but Thule selects the 135 (53") if I shop by vehicle. The goal would be to put a ski box (and possibly bike racks, eventually) up top, so I don't think I need to maximize width and would love to reduce...
  7. Ford cargo mat worth it in Outer Banks?

I had both of those on the order that we had placed, but it wasn't included with the one we ended up buying since waiting until 12/24 didn't seem appealing, and I didn't want to complicate a remote deal with trying to figure out what they had for accessories in stock, needing to wait to install...
  8. Ford cargo mat worth it in Outer Banks?

The Outer Banks has a nice, rubberized finish on the cargo floor, and it is removable, but it doesn't have lips on the sides (making me think that things could end up dripping into the spare-tire cavity, for example, melting snow from ski gear). Anyone taken a close look at both the mat and the...
  9. Waiting room

Well, we got out of the waiting room today...by driving across a couple of states to purchase an abandoned custom order in upstate NY. Aside from not having the cargo management system or engine block heater, it differs only in included accessories. My wife is happy, I'm happy, and it appears I...
  10. Waiting room

I'd take a 2022 at 21 pricing with specs to match an outstanding order over a 2021 delivered in 2022 after they had a deposit for nine months. My wife has reached the F waiting stage and I'm now trying to find something reasonably close on a lot. So far, everything that looked interesting on a...
  11. June Builds sitting in the Mexican Desert

My wife ordered an OB w/OB in March, expecting delivery in May. June wasn't a big deal, but early November was annoying and December (possibly January depending on dealer scheduling around the holiday) is looking pretty ridiculous, especially since a lot of vehicles ordered later have been...
  12. June Builds sitting in the Mexican Desert

For a non-trivial percentage of car purchasers, needing to wait even a month for a build is a non-starter. It's one thing if you can plan on the purchase, or if you have other vehicles in the household to pick up the slack, but in the event of a crash and total loss or other unexpected need, the...
  13. 2022 Sport auto start stop opt out?

I'd bet not. That sounds like a very Range Rover solution; I'm pretty sure Ford's solution is just to kick off high-drain stuff if they think they can get away with it, and kick the vehicle back on as necessary. I know 100% that the F-150s don't have a second battery. If I had time, I'd look at...
  14. 2022 Sport auto start stop opt out?

Can you hold the BS in place without having the brake fully depressed? I haven't driven one yet (my wife's is on order and, at the current pace, should be here by Christmas of 2030), but on my F-150, the auto start/stop only cuts the engine with the brake fully depressed. If you even lift...
  15. X-Plan changes for Mustang Club of America members

Does anyone know if—given the current wait times on ordered vehicles—you can sign up for MCA at an appropriate tier after ordering and, assuming your vehicle takes 90+ days to arrive, use X-Plan when it does arrive?
