First Look at Desert Sand Color on 2024 Bronco Sport

Lots of criticism I see. Personally I'm a big fan of it. I've always enjoyed earth tone colors that are against the norm. However, in the last few years, they've surged in popularity, especially primer grey tones. Take Toyota's Cement Grey, Nissan's Boulder Grey, Honda's Sonic Grey, Audi's Nardo Grey and Kia's Wolf Grey as examples. Each one is a sales hit. Same goes for the Desert colors. Toyota's Quicksand, Jeep's Gobi, GM's Sand Dune Metallic, Nissan's Baja Storm Metallic, etc. All of which sell out immediately and are hard to come by. You go to any of the dealer lots and all that's left are the boring neutral colors, unless the earth tones are charged with a dealer markup. As far as resale value goes, it'll always be there unless these colors become a fad and people eventually get tired of them. But I don't see it anytime soon. I'm curious to see how this is gonna look on the Maverick. No spotting of it yet in the wild but I'm sure it'll come soon enough.

Not a bad color, but I'd pick Cactus Grey or Eruption Green first.

Desert Sand reminds me of The Dude's car, but without the rust...coloration.

My father was a long time car dealer. Pretty smart guy, knew everything and anything about cars and moving them. He made this huge sweeping statement when I was a young kid and still sticks with me because I'd love green and I often want a green car, but he told me over the dinner table one night while he was recounting something that was happening at work 'a green car will always be a piece of sht'.
So, every time I run into a situation where there's a beautiful green car like the '23 Jade green BS with the brown leather seats that I passed on at the dealership when I bought my Cactus Gray BS- should I just roll the dice and keep my fingers crossed and go with it or find that he told me that back in the early 70's as a forewarning because the car will be nothing but a headache to me- yet even in my sixties, was that just one more way from him to say from another dimension 'Schmuck, you still don't listen!' ?

Cyber Orange for me. The big problem is trying to go unnoticed at a Hotel you shouldn't be at.

I like it, and if it had been on the lot with similar options I might have leaned in that direction. Especially if it had a tan or brown interior. That said, I really like our Cyber Orange BL.

We travel with our dogs almost exclusively, and with them being more or less white, black interiors are a constant battle. We were in a position of needing a car and didn't have many options to wait out the ordering process. We went for the BL mostly because of the easily cleaned rubber floor; the fact that it came with the 2L sealed the deal. Even the interiors that are brown/tan in vehicles today are almost all black carpet. I get the manufacturing advantage of fewer colors to deal with on the production line, but I still don't like it.

When our black cloth seats start to show any sort of wear, I will be replacing with real leather from Katzkin so they are easier to clean.

Keeping my Atlas Blue with the orange letters, Go Gators. But my co-workers have mentioned that if I get Eruption Green, I could go ahead and nickname it “Gator”. The tan doesn’t win yet!!!

I just got my MY23 in Atlas Blue. I debated between it and Eruption Green. I don’t care for the new MY24 colors. I like the metallic colors. The more flake the better. Now if Ford had added Adobe Sand (basically gold) or something like vvv, I might have to rethink ordering a MY24. ?‍

I didn’t have a ton of choice when I purchased my ‘23 BS Heritage trim in Alto Blue (not Atlas Blue) off the lot but I do like the earth tone colors, myself.

Whether or not they will hold their popularity over the years remains to be seen. They’re a refreshing change and having options is always a good thing.

As for the tan, I think that works better in a more matte finish to play off of the offroad crowd ... similar to what Toyota did a few years back with some of its military/earth colors. The Ford tan looks too glossy for me.

I have to think back, my Dad's beige '64 Electra even when polished and waxed was never as shiny as this. I'd describe it as more of a semi-gloss. I never had a problem with sun glare of the huge hood either, unlike what people are experiencing with the hood of the Bronco Sport.

Buy and drive whatever you want. As far as resale value goes, if it's not important to you, that's fine... just thought I would mention the resale value since it may be a consideration for another in the market buyer. As far as the auto business sticking it to you at trade in time, my advice would be shop a few different stores or sell it privately.

Lease it and get the color you want. ?
