Factory tire trade in for credit?

Hey folks, brand new here as we just placed an order on a Badlands.

Q for all of you who upgraded your tires. I’d love to get 245/65R17 like I’ve seen many here do, but not sure what to then do with the 235s A/Ts that come from the factory (got the Wildpeaks in case I decide not to upsize). Doesn’t seem like there’s much of a used market in BC, and it doesn’t sound like the dealer is keen on giving me credit for them. Anyone in Canada know of a tire company that will take them in for credit? Or suggestions for another solution?

Why not wait until the WildPeaks wear out? I’ve got them and find they are a really good tire. They are good with respect to noise, great in wet weather. You only gain approximately 1/4 of extra clearance with the 245’s. I know they do not look as aggressive as the tires with squarer edges but besides that, I fail to have a good reason to pay extra for them only to change them out.

Best solution would be to try the forum market place. A few sets have been sold here. Biggest issue would be shipping. Not sure about Canada, but around here you would be looking at ~100 USD to ship each one.

Discount tire gave me $200 for my factory Michelin 18s. I was ok with that, to be honest. Didn't feel like storing tires for weeks or even months waiting for the right person to come around locally to buy them.

They had no use for my brand new full size spare I swapped out for the upgraded tire and regular wheel.

My Badlands spare was smaller than my four tires. (225 versus 235) Discount tire gave me $45 trade in when buying a matched tire for a spare.

Unfortunately, mine wouldn’t. They told me there’s not much demand for it for them.

For everyone who responded (thanks), just wrapping this up: I went and spoke with the dealer again and changed the order to the standard 225 tires. Then the dealer ordered 245 Wildpeaks for me, AND they agreed to give me $400 credit for the stock tires. The Wildpeaks were on sale, so all together, the switch from 225 to 245 cost $700 CAD. I’m happy, given that the factory 235s would have cost $650, so only an additional $50 to upgrade from 235s to the 245s.

Shoutout to my dealer for being so flexible

My dealer had no interest in helping me get rid of the Bridgstones that were on my Escape at delivery. Going to just use them up.
