Regarding staying in their vehicles longer: I either dump it after a couple or keep it until it's no longer financially viable to maintain.
I tend to be in the latter category, though if they come out with a PHEV Bronco Sport, I will be first in line. I was not planning to buy a new car this year, but getting my Forester rear ended and subsequently totalled, I had that decision made for me. My plan was to buy a replacement for the Forester after buying my wife an EV Fiat 500 next year. If I'd had the time for my original plan, I would have waited until I found a PHEV I liked, but I do like the BS, and having a PHEV version would be a no brainer for me.

I will not be told by Ford or any other company that I "should keep my car longer." It's my money, I will spend it how I please.
Totally fair

I'm all for electric vehicles, but the prices are out of reach for me right now. 90K for a fully dressed out EV F-150 lightning? Really?

How about under $25k for a 4-door sedan with 500 mile range?

Considering the average new car price in this country is nearly $50K that's not likely. Would be nice though.

The government doesn't want it though. By mandating very expensive EV systems in cars, they artificially restrict sales to only those who can afford them, shoving more people into mass transit and car share programs. Just like the infamous cash for clunkers that removed so many otherwise serviceable, great vehicles from the roads alongside actual heaps to prop up the UAW and automakers, the govt is putting its thumb on the scale.

This isn't tinfoil hat stuff-- I have seen it in planning for new urban and suburban residential and commercial developments, where the number of parking spaces is intentionally reduced from 2 per home to less than one. I've seen proposed city parking garages eliminated in the hopes that autonomous vehicles will be able to drop you off, then go somewhere else and hangout and recall upon your request. That tech is not far off but it's not here yet either and will be at least a decade before it is reliable and safe.

I saw this article last night and talked to my wife about it. At a certain age you want, and often need, comforts in your vehicle and most often, you have the extra savings to afford those comforts. But I’ll tell you where I am NOT comforted, the Platinum is still $92K. Holy :ontheloo: !

[Dude] stay tuned, it’s coming but yea the 500mi range not likely

lots of articles on the topic and might take a few years or so, here is one article

[Dude] I prefer the autonomous vehicles for the short errands and where I’m at is available now but only in specific areas

Some of these guys are commiting consumer level fraud with some of these mark ups. My advice to one is to always shop around the entire country, find a dealership not charging insane mark ups, guage their trustworthiness through communication, be willing to travel for the vehicle.
You are so right. some of these dealerships should be shut down for the crap they try to pull on car buyers. I witnessed it first hand this past week with the purchase of my BS.

Someone waking up to the fact not everyone is ready to jump on the EV bandwagon?
The only electric vehicles that make any sense are hybrids. My neighbor just bought a hybrid F-150 and he is ecstatic over the gas mileage.

This is 100% correct and lines up with what the chair of Toyota has been saying for some time. We considered a RAV4 Hybrid but it was VERY underwhelming. I could however see a hybrid pickup in my future.

But the fact is that the green lobby will not allow it, in their eyes all combustion fueled vehicles are bad and must be eliminated, infrastructure capability, economics, logistics and rational thought be damned. BEVs make great sense in the urban/densely populated areas but once you're outside of those areas they just don't make as much sense anymore.

Tesla also dropped some of the prices of their EVs as well. Also, a majority of the unsold cars in Ford's inventory are EVs.
So, Ford is offering a $10,000 drop in price off of a fully loaded $90,000 EV truck.

I'm still not signing on the dotted line.
