Our 2021 Sport has an engine code for a failed EVAP. The vehicle is out of warranty by mileage (50,000). The dealer indicates the repair is not covered. It was my understanding that emission related failures are covered under the Federal Emissions law for up to 80,000. miles. Does anyone have input on this? Thanks, Jim

The EVAP purge valve is not covered under the emissions warranty.

This is real easy to replace.

What is the specific code? If it's as @thomasm23 suggests, it's an easy replacement. There are other EVAP system components that are not so $easy$ to replace.

P0456 is the code. I guess my point is why is it not covered under the federal emissions law. Its easy to just say its not covered. The second word in the part is emission. I can fix fit. That doesn't make it right.

P0456 code may indicate the fuel door is not sealing properly. You may need to clean the area around the fuel filler.

Some people have used WD-40 to clean the filler area. You can also use the white fuel filler funnel located in the spare tire storage area. Spray WD-40 into the fuel filler and insert the fuel filler funnel in and out to clean and lubricate the spring loaded seal.

We all agree with you however you have to read Ford’s warranty info regarding the Federal emissions coverage (which covers specific components)

“Ford's emissions warranty covers specific components related to emissions control systems for 8 years or 80,000 miles, whichever comes first, including catalytic converters, electronic emission control units, and onboard emissions diagnostic devices.”

I'll try the fuel filler first. The printout from my local shop shows a loop of EVAP lines under the engine appearance cover that need to be replaced. I can probably handle that. Thanks for the group help.

This is the way. Never forget that service shops are in the business of making money. They make more money the more work they do, so it's rare for them to look for easy, simple solutions.
