It may be because of the recommend 5K interval between changes...
I don't believe there's a mileage recommendation for oil changes. The manual says to change the oil when notified by the IOLM on the dash display. It says to "expect" an oil-change notification between 7.5K and 10K under normal conditions, between 5K & 7.5K under severe operating conditions, and between 3K and 5K under extreme operation conditions.

With all the heat , I'll be going with 100% synthetic oil. I'm surprised Ford doesn't recommend synthetic instead of maybe a 30% synthetic mix in the blended oil.
I recently had my 1st oil change at Valvoline and was shocked that Ford calls for a synthetic blend. I had to look it up when I got home and sure enough Ford calls for a blended oil rather than 100% synthetic.

I purchased a BS Big Bend on Oct 31,2023. Previously I owned an Escape SEL with the 1.6 Ltr turbo engine always used Pennzoil 100% Synthetic and in 84000 miles never used a Drop of Oil.
Before signing the deal I checked with my trusted Ford Service advisor and he said try not to go over 5000 miles between oil changes which is exactly as I did with my Escape. There are several
You Tube videos from Mechanics and this is exactly what they encourage. The reason is Two Fold First the Turbo spins at up to 25000 rpm,s and gets extremely Hot , which can thin the oil.Second
with the smaller engine in combination with the Turbo and extreme heat using Synthetic oil will lubricate the engine and turbo better.
One last item he suggested was to run the engine at lower RPM,s
just be for shutting off to cool the turbo and engine and thus preventing baking of the oil because of excessive heat.
I am very pleased with the total performance of my BS and am happy I waited to purchase this SUV AWD, it is definitely fun to drive.
