Drivers Door Grommet

For this grommet in the drivers door; where on earth does it come out? Looking to see if I can run some wires to the engine bay through it, but even with lights and cable running wire I’ve been defeated trying to find out where it’s actually accessible

It eventually finds its way under the drivers dash. It's a bit tough but can be done. It goes down about 3 inches then in

is it covered by carpet or anything? Even with the light held right up to the hole from the inside I can’t see anything at all to give an idea of where it might be

No carpet its up above the hood release area. Save the rubber piece though you won't want any water getting in through there afterwards.

There should also be an easier passage on the firewall behind the battery. You should be able to see it from the inside behind above the brake pedal

I still can't find it even after your advice. It feels like it just disappears into the nether regions between pieces of stamped metal. Any further advice would be greatly appreciated.

If you reach your hand up towards where it feels like it should be, and feel around, you’ll feel a hole in the metal. That hole leads to a void between where the grommet comes in and where your wire will enter the cab. The wire coming through the grommet will be coming from above the hole and you’ll have to use your fingers to pull it through. I hope any of that makes sense but there’s definitely a void between grommet entrance and the hole you’re feeling for. I hope this diagram helps at all but that’s how it feels like the layout is.

CAREFULLY use a metal coat hanger and feel your way down to the second hole described above. then tape your wire to end of hanger and pull it through. Sounds more difficult than it really is. I also left a string in the opening if a needed to add another wire in future. GOOD LUCK

YES! Thank you for taking the time to explain this. Everyone made it sound like that hole led directly into the space under the dash, and that's clearly not the case.

I actually ended up buying a boroscope to see what was going on which definitely helped me find this second hole.
