The old "sugar in the gas tank" rumor has been around for a long time, but the majority of the concerns surrounding it aren't factual. Yes, it would make a mess, and likely require cleaning out your gas tank, but even if sugar crystals somehow manage to get past the filter and pump in your tank, and get to the engine, it will not cause catastrophic failure.the concern was not so much what would be removed
