Which is a better tire to get, 245/65 or 235/65? I do a moderate amount of off roading for fun, practicality, and looks. 1.5 inch rc lift

Honestly I got 245/65 ko3s after a bad alignment.

So far I prefer them over my old open countrys

You won't go wrong with BFG or Wildpeaks. All the tires are going to have a bias for either street or offroad. Gets down to your preference. I have 245 KO2s on my 21 BL. Can't beat them for traction or durability offroad. But, they are noisy, not excessively so, on pavement. I have a 23 BL that is scheduled to be built week of 7/31 and I'm still not sure I will replace the 225 OEMs with. I think I'm down to 245/65 BFG Trail/Terrain and Wildpeak AT3s. This is subject to change before I go to bed tonight.

I went with 245/65/17 pirelli scorpion all terrain plus. The ko2s were too heavy for my liking and too noisy on the road. I used to have them on my 4runner years ago and they were terrible in the winter weather we get here in bc. The pirellis have been fantastic so far, great traction off roading and quite quiet on the road. They are also 6lbs lighter which is helping with fuel economy and not taxing the little 1.5 as much.

@Bubmoo it looks like the 245/65 is the winning size. With the lift, I would agree that's a solid choice. Was your intention to replace the wheels as well?
yep, was just trying to get some nice tires, ironically from Discount tires. 245/65 it is!

I'm curious to know more about these tires? I've heard they don't do well with snow/rain how long have you had them? How do they hold up?

rain hasn't been an issue and haven't had any aquaplaning. Snow has been great as well. Have had them for 9000km so far.

With a lift. definitely go with the 245/65/17. I would stick with the Toyo Open Country AT III or the BFG Trail Terrain or Falken Wildpeak AT Trail with a 1.5L engine though as they mitigate the weight issue that you encounter with KO2s and the Wildpeak AT3W (both 40 lbs or more per corner). I stuck with the 235/65/17 since I didnt have a lift. If I get one, I will switch.

@jhnvan thank you for taking the time to post. Many forum members should find this information helpful when purchasing tires. Was there any more info you could give on the tires performance. Ride quality, stability etc?

I have the wildpeak upgrade OEM and they have been outstanding in all conditions. Wet, snow, ice, mud, sand, loose gravel, 10mph hairpins in the mountains. 235 with standard setup looks nice. With a lift 245 would work. Can't go wrong with Ford spec.
d, sand,
