I so appreciate this forum. Our 2021 BS BB 1.5 was bought used 2/2023. Thanks to all of you I had my husband check our coolant level this morning. It has 11,978 miles on it today.
Sure enough, coolant level low. We called the dealership, they'll take a look next month on the 11th. We'll talk to them about the water pump and replacement with part number HX7Z8501B.

Anything else that we need to know about coolant loss? No identifiable coolant odor at all...

Yes, mainly an issue with the 1.5L.
Mark … you said mainly an issue with the 1.5L. I have not heard of 2.0L with (systemic) water pump issues … is there an implication here that some 2.0L can have water pump issues and if so is there a cause of that ? (Other than just normal wear out)

I'm not aware of widespread problems related to the water pump (or the coolant system in general) for the 2.0L. I'm sure there are some cats and dogs here and there, but not as frequent as with the 1.5L.

That’s great, thanks for sharing that info!

My 2022 1.5L built on 02/11/22 just started leaking at 12,995 miles.

I have a 23 1.5L that had water Pump leak.... not all 23s fixed apparently
They are, compared to what was in there originally. Sounds like you got a bad one. It happens sometimes unfortunately.

We took our 2021 BS BB to our dealership yesterday to explore what may have caused a low coolant level. They could not detect any leaks and the water pump looked good.
They put a dye in the reservoir. We'll drive it about 300 miles. Take it back in, then they'll do another inspection with a black light.

It's the water pump.

Ford released a redesigned water pump with the B suffix (prior version was the A suffix).. maybe your Ford receipt shows the part number and if you are lucky was the redesigned part. Attached is a pic of more info but I am not the originator of this info.

that’s me. I need to revise the post. The new water pumps leak as well. It is believed that the lack of belt tensioner on the engine causes too much strain on the pump. The updated part isnt different from the previous one, at all. maybe a new supplier, but it’s not revised at all.

How did you confirm that the new "B" pump is no change/different from the "A" pump ? Is the "no tensioner" cause still your theory or did you find out that Ford has agreed with you on this ? My original pump is leaking too at 13,000 miles. Belt is soaked in coolant and making a mess !
