Some have said the new Sport is kinda like the remake of the original Explorer. I like this thought. I know they are built completely different but they both have the same idea behind them. They share the adventurous get out there, small but capable, rugged and good looking DNA. Here are some pictures for comparison. Enjoy!

Great comparison. The BS definitely gives me early-to-mid 90s Explorer vibes, just like the one used in Jurassic Park (also, props for the retro JP tag!). That generation of Explorer was definitely a cool and adventurous vehicle, much like the BS. Can be a daily driver in suburbia but can also get you where most soft-roaders can't.

Well put! Cool to see a fellow JP fan, I keep thinking one day I’ll give my Explorer a JP paint job.

My first vehicle ever was a very well-used 91 Eddie Bauer Explorer and the BS reminds me of it a lot. It's definitely smaller, but better in every way.

I have almost a half million miles of wheel time collectively between a '94 Explorer Sport and and '06 Escape XLS. Both were great vehicles.
In those days the Explorer was body-on-frame with Twin I-Beam suspension; very truck-like but lacking some refinement. The Twin-I Beam was notorious for the weird tire wear. When the Escape arrived, I thought it was much more refined and "right-sized" for what I needed yet still rugged enough for fireroads and moderate trails.
Each time I have driven a Sport, it reminds me of my beloved Escape and how good it did everything it did, in a package that was fun and easy to manage.

Nice comparison!

But I think B/S looks very similar to the 2nd Gen Escapes, too.

Yes, the BS has *a lot* in common with both the 2G Escape *and* today's Escape. I find this comparo with that 1G Explorer very interesting, not because of its mechanicals at all, but the styling, and astonishing similarity in dimensions (height and length, anyway). Superficial I think -- with taller suspension and wheels/tires, the Explorer could dwarf the BS. Boy, has the modern Explorer become bloated. Also, the BS comes *without* the exploding Firestone tires and rollover feature!

Right, the Sport looks remarkably similar to the 2008-2012 Escapes, and is dimensionally close in size too.

My BS is sitting in my garage next to my 1994 Explorer Sport which I purchased new. I will send a picture tomorrow. The old Explorer is a very capable vehicle but it handles like a bucken bronco.

Two very nice Sports you have there! Looks like that Explorer has been very well kept.
