We’ve only had the Bronco since August and it only has 3000 miles on it. Now it has a chip in the windshield. A pickup going the other direction got us this morning.

I remember when chips were rare, but they seem all too common today. Both my F150 and Bronco have chips in the windshield and we’ve replaced the windshield in Mrs. T’s Cherokee. I hope the chip doesn’t turn into a crack.

I have had a couple of very small chips in my BS with only about 2000 miles on it. Also found a very small one on my 25 Escape with about 500 miles on it. The chips were very small so I just used the Rain-X kit. Whether using professional glass repair or these kits it seems there will always be a dot left after the repair. After a few days you pretty much become blind to the dot.

I am always concerned that even the small chips can grow so I would always recommend repairing them.

Definitely get it filled if there is any star like cracks. Filling it will prevent water from getting in and then expanding if it freezes. The professional process evacuates the area then fills it with a superglue type sealant that cures under the absence of air.

I had a small rock chip on the driver's side on the edge. You couldn't see it from inside the car. Parked it overnight at home on woke up the next morning and noticed a crack all the way across the windshield. Took it to a glass shop over in Pinetop-Lakeside and had a new one installed. $720 out of pocket. Now I have glass coverage. The girl in the office of the G S said that is common with these new Bronco's. Jeeps too but not as frequent.

I got a rock hit on the windshield while driving on the interstate in late September '24. A small chip at eye level on the driver's side of the BS. I delayed getting it repaired or replaced. I kept watching and waiting throughout the winter to see if the small ding would start to spider-web crack across the windshield. Still no change in the small ding after 15 months. So far so good. I'll keep watching for cracks, probably won't do anything until then.
