We have a Dachshund and use a long pet carrier on road trips. We like placing it between the front seats so we can keep an eye on him, but the center console isn’t long enough to support the rear of the carrier.

I built a simple center console extender/pet carrier support that wedges between the rear seat and the back of the center console. It keeps the carrier level with the console. I also added nylon webbing tied into the child seat anchors to keep it from sliding or coming forward under hard braking.

This setup worked well in our Subaru, and I adapted it for the Bronco Sport.

Cool! How does it not tip over sideways?
It fits tightly between the rear seat and the center console. There’s also a 1/2” spacer that slides in between the back seat and the extender to snug everything up even more once it’s in place.

That’s kinda genius. Care to share plans for it?

I didn’t really Make formal plans but I can’t throw a tape on what I made and a photo of the template I made. The template is the key for a snug fit. Let me see what I can pull together.

Don’t go out of your way, but it’s appreciated.

Take a look at these. They’re not full plans so much as a few key dimensions and a flat photo of the side template. There isn’t a single true 90-degree corner on the side, so I made a template using index cards taped together, traced that onto illustration board, and cut it out. It should be enough to give a rough idea of the shape.

The whole thing is made from 1/4" MDF, epoxied together, then spray-painted. I also had some black leather scraps lying around, so I added that to the top just because I had it.

A couple of other things to note: It won’t clear the large section of the rear seats folded down. The smaller passenger side clears fine. This works great for my 16 lbs dachshund, it you have a 90 lbs Lab it's not likely to support him

it's basically just a box made out of 1/4" MDF and epoxied together between the sides.

if you were scale to the ruler and print it out I think it would work
as a side template. I'd cut one out of cardboard first just because there's no guarantee that any two Broncos are assembled the same.

I glued some felt to the points that contact the center console
to keep from scuffing it too bad, it fits that tight.

Nothing like CAD (Cardboard Aided Design)!

Thanks much, I may gen that up for 3D printing. I need an excuse to use some of my ABS filament, anyway.
