We have a Dachshund and use a long pet carrier on road trips. We like placing it between the front seats so we can keep an eye on him, but the center console isn’t long enough to support the rear of the carrier.
I built a simple center console extender/pet carrier support that wedges between the rear seat and the back of the center console. It keeps the carrier level with the console. I also added nylon webbing tied into the child seat anchors to keep it from sliding or coming forward under hard braking.
This setup worked well in our Subaru, and I adapted it for the Bronco Sport.
