same with iphone - set your trip before you leave while you have service. It works fine via the phone GPS later if you lose cell service. I live in an area with bad pockets of cell service so i have proven this a million times.

Cancel away. No issue whatsoever. Has it been built? If it is in transit it is out of their control, and are at the mercy of the trains/trucks it is coming on. Either way, you can cancel when it arrives at the dealership as well. Just tell them you aren't buying it when they call you. If your dealership charged a non-refundable deposit you may lose it, that would be the only cost. This is an old thread, but wondering if canceling a customer order still has no legal or financial ramifications. I’m at the point now where 6 months after I placed my order neither Ford nor the dealer can give me a delivery date. Now considering ditching the order as it’s left a really bad taste to the whole thing.
I have to side with Ford on this one. You ordered 7 months ago, but placed an order when the order banks opened, knowing production wasn't starting until at that time mid November, which was then delayed, but it's only been 3 months since production started. If you want one now just start looking online and calling dealerships. They tell me it’s being built at the very end of this month, which will be 7 months from ordering. Who knows when I would actually receive it, though. I have lost confidence in Ford and it leads me to question (probably irrationally, I know) their build quality and the dealer’s ability to maintain it.
I understand for sure. Scheduling is the luck of the draw and sometimes dealership dependent. Regardless, I wouldn't cancel until it comes to the dealership. You can try and find one around the country in the meantime if you are still interested, or punt and buy something else. It’s not so much the production delays (and BTW I have seen people who ordered the exact same same spec/color but 2 months after me and they already have taken delivery) - it’s Ford’s terrible lack of communications and explanation that really bother me. I have to say the buying experience is the worst I’ve had in 35 years of buying cars. As I said, it leaves a bad taste, esp when paying close to $50k.
