Has anyone replaced the blower motor on their Bronco Sport? Mine sounds like it is going to take off to Mars when the air is near high or high. I've read quite a few people have had it go bad around 28,000-30,000 miles. This is the case for me as well. At least I am pretty sure that is what is wrong. It seems like it could be a fairly simple part to replace but I have not found any videos or write-ups. It's located just under the cabin filter behind the glove box for reference. Does anyone have any thoughts or info on this? Thanks in advance.

Not clear from your post if this a change from how it was operating before which would indicate maybe something wrong with the blower?

Mine is a Badlands so might be different. I keep my climate control on auto. If I remember correctly the fan is loud if on high setting like when first getting into the car on a hot day and the system is initially blowing air on high to cool off the cabin. Once the cabin temp comes down the fan slows down or I just temporarily raise the inside temperature a couple of degrees to lower the fan speed and then adjust the temperature down to avoid the fan blowing on high.

It's a big change. It sounds like someone is flooring the gas pedal and the whole area shakes. It's a pretty drastic loud sound.

Sorry, I tried researching for videos but came up empty. Hopefully someone on the forum will see your post and will be able to provide the information you need.

The blower motor speed is controlled by a resistor card that is located behind the glove box. The card has a plug attached and is inserted in the duct to allow the card to cool. This part is easy to replace and is not expensive.

Do you happen to have the part # handy for the resistor card ?

Had this issue with a 2007 Ford F-150. Ended up I had a leaf flapping on the squirrel cage fan blades. Reminded me of how as kids we would do this on the spokes of our bicycles. I destroyed a Nolan Ryan rookie baseball card back in the day doing this.

Then again, our BS's are equipped with a cabin filter, so debris should not be able to get to the fan.

After looking over some schematics, there is no separate resistor to replace. Ford has made a change. The HVAC blower motor may have a built in resistor. This would require the entire blower motor to be replaced.

I’m pretty sure that’s what I will have to do. I’m afraid I’ll snap a clip or something. And that assembly is expensive. It seems like it would be an easy job though. Be about $350 for a shop to do it. The motor is around $190 MSRP. But I can find it for around $140 shipped. We will probably see more posts popping up soon as this seems like a common problem now.

Not sure if you have figured out your problem yet, but I had the same thing. Turns out my dealer had to get Ford involved to figure out that there was a piece of electrical tape on the squirrel cage from the factory. It threw it out of balance and made the noise like you are saying.

But after almost a year of running non-concentric, Ford and the incompetent dealer both say it will not harm anything. Nor will they replace a Factory and Ford issue.

So if you haven't solved it yet, you might look at that.

Thanks for the info. That helps. I’m going to dive into it this weekend and see what I can find. It does feel like something is throwing off the balance like you said. Sounds like this is going to be a common issue at some point. If not already. I know Ford won’t do anything out of the warranty so I’ll have to figure it out.
