Mark, not sure if the quality will ever recover.

Some brands are better than others, not sure who's at the top now, but with these vehicles getting more complicated, just more issues to go wrong with compromised parts.

We sure don't get what we pay for.

The automotive side is bad, but the RV side is abysmal, absolutely no quality control whatsoever.
The issue of quality isn't just newer components, quality in manufacturing in general has gone to (a word that rhymes with "hit"). I replaced a set of points in a snowblower last fall, didn't even get a season before the "new and improved" set burnt up. I filed the "old antiquated" points (at least 30 years old), still fires up with 1/2 a pull

In order to meet the ever growing customer expectations for bells and whistles, cars have become more and more complex and thus prone to failures of both software and mechanical systems. More features = more problems.
And all of that has to be able to handle the extremes of temperature.

That being said much of the complexity comes from regulators for better and worse.

You're right about the RV business.

Anyone having trouble with an auto mfr/dealer that wants to feel better should read some of those horror stories.

The day I bought and sold my RV were the same...happy when I got it; happy when I sold it.

Much like owning boats.

I'm beginning to feel that way now with the newer vehicles.

I do miss traveling in a RV. Great lifestyle, no motels, make your own meals, etc.

Age caught up and I'm particular maintaining anything I own. A challenge to maintain the roof, cover it in storage and got to the point where the risk wasn't worth the reward.
