I see that the BS has a belly pan that has to be removed before the oil can be changed. My '14 Escape 2.0 Titanium, and my '19 Edge 2.0 Titanium also had them. I change my own oil and filter, and this pan is a pain. When I had my Escape several folks on the Escape forum talked about an aftermarket pan that had trap doors to drain the oil and change the filter without removing the pan. Has anyone heard about such a product for the BS?

I could be mistaken, but I thought I saw in another post that the Rival belly pan (which really looks nice) only has a door to get to the drain plug - you still need to drop the pan to get to the filter. Which seems to defeat the purpose...

I noticed the same thing. I contacted Rival to get an answer on this. It's definitely a deal breaker.

Already another thread on this -- there is no filter access with the "pan" still attached.

I bet Rival is scrambling to redesign the flawed pan.
Hope nobody jumped too soon. Returns a coming Rival.
They will redesign the pan, patience people.
Once that is upgraded and they get the long aluminum pan to cover that evap pump I’m in.

It’ll fit the badlands. Just the oil drain plug faces the other way on the 4cyl. Regardless you have to drop the plate to change the filter. It’s not rivals fault, it’s just where Ford puts the oil filter. You’d have to have a door in half the skid to get to the oil filter. Which would be pointless and hinder protection. The oil pan is a huge contact spot off-road. I’d rather be protected and have to pull the skid which is a few bolts. And is every 5k miles plus. Takes two min. Stop blaming rival. And don’t be lazy. Just pull the skid change fluid/filter and done. The rear of the skid has slots where the bolts will hold it while you adjust and tighten it up.

If you're going to drop the pan anyway the drain plug access is totally worthless. Eliminate it and it's extra cost and inherent weakness.

The skid is already priced really well. Doubt the skid door is gonna change the price. Buy it, use it.

I'm 78 years old. I did not buy my Bronco Sport to drive over rocks or go off roading. I do however still do my own oil changes. My last 3 vehicles had the factory pan, and I'm tired of taking it down to change the oil. If someone finally offers a pan with easy access for oil and filter change, then I'll buy it. That is the only reason I would bother changing it.

might not go rock climbing
but they might come looking for you
wheel well ice build up
upstate NY potholes let frozen ice boogers loose to oncoming traffic
large tractor trailer sized boulders of solid ice
okay that was a bit of a stretch but we could agree these are trouble, no?
same scenario here
not going rock climbing
but lower components are far game to these frozen winter wonderland gems
may bite the bullet and slap one on even though an oil change obstacle
