might not go rock climbing
but they might come looking for you
wheel well ice build up
upstate NY potholes let frozen ice boogers loose to oncoming traffic
large tractor trailer sized boulders of solid ice
okay that was a bit of a stretch but we could agree these are trouble, no?
same scenario here
not going rock climbing
but lower components are far game to these frozen winter wonderland gems
may bite the bullet and slap one on even though an oil change obstacle
No problem for me. My vehicle goes in a heated garage every night. I'm retired, and if the weather is too bad, it may stay inside foe several weeks.

I did see another pan being sold that had a hole to access the oil drain plug, and a removable door to get your arm/hand up to remove the oil filter (JCR). One complaint on a thread though was that the hole to remove the oil drain plug allowed a ratchet/extension/socket across, but the oil draining made a bit of a mess coming down through the hole, as it was not large enough or offset.

Here is a vid that describes it (scroll down). At 8:10 into the vid, it describes the access cover to gain access to the oil filter and drain plug cutout.

Better for the environment, worse for plantar fasciitis.

I have the Rival and have to remove the entire thing. JRC you do not, it has the ports for bot filter and drain. I would have gone with the JRC, but Rival was the only option at the time. The rival is pretty heavy and kinda a pain but only takes me a couple of minutes to remove it, I have done 3 oil changes already so I'm getting the hang of the routine.
