I went to my dealer today to order a Badlands model. I sat with him as he entered the order. At the end it stated that the Badlands is a "delayed production" model. He said that the FE is also delayed production. Can anyone else confirm that?

If true, I’m disappointed.

I don't know what delayed production means, but I placed an order for a Badlands on July 23rd and yesterday I heard that I could expect delivery sometime in late November or early December. We shall see but wouldn't be surprised if it takes longer than that.

I'd call BS.
If they can't deliver the "First" edition, first.
Then they fumbled and look like idiots - like Jeep did with the "Launch" edition of the Gladiator.

When I placed my order for a FE, there were two items marked as "delayed production"
  • The black painted wheels (which are standard on the FE)
  • The cargo management system
It could be the dealer noticed items like that and said it would be delayed. My guess is there is a lot to sort still. He also said he had see this before and his advice was, "even if you have to wait an extra month or two, in the long run, you want to get what you really want." And we have already been waiting this long!

Well, it would be nice to have the vehicle in time for winter in the PNW and we might still.

I am glad I set my eyes on a 2022 model year even when I first heard of the Sport.

It just gives me more time to see real life feedback and reviews and very probably to get some more optional (and standard?) features and possibly more colors, as most models do in their 2nd or later years....
Hopefully by the end of 2021, the process for getting a 2022 model won't be a hassle.

That said, I hope that the orders that have been placed for 2020 models will be processed in a timely manner, and that everyone here gets what they ordered.
2020 hasn't been a normal year by any means; we all deserve something that we've been waiting/worked for, so even if means a few months/weeks delay, I am sure everyone will be happy in the end. I am excited for all you guys who got their orders in already.

Yes, everyone that is ordering a vehicle sight unseen is much braver than I.

I did exactly (ordered; sight unseen) that with my current Jeep JK Wrangler...

I was willing to take a $100 (refundable) gamble.
