My 2022 Big Bend Baby Bronco has 21K miles, and two days ago it gave me a warning beeping when I exited. It took a bit, but I noticed a little A on the dash with a slash, so I figured out it was the auto stop / start not working. On a 400 mile trip yesterday, it worked for a while but didn't on the drive home.
Is it possible that it shuts down this feature if the battery is slightly low? It should have been well charged on the trip, even in the dark.
I don't like the feature, so I'm not bummed that it doesn't work, but I'm a bit concerned that such a new vehicle

You are correct that it does not work when the battery voltage is low. Because of the long drive, I would be worried about the health of the battery or charging system.

Thanks. After posting this, I saw a few other posts on this same topic. The battery has lasted 20,000 miles / 1 year. The tires did, too.

I don’t know that it is for sure one of those things, but they are where I would start the diagnosis.

Yes, these are the signs of your battery needing replacement. Mine’s been doing this for almost 3 years because I generally drive short trips, but that’s okay because I hate the auto stop/start feature.

If you scroll down in the display menu when the auto stop is not active it should say its because ”the battery is charging”. I believe this happens more as the battery ages but not necessarily because the battery is bad.

I don't use stop/start but if I did and had that issue, I wouldn't wait for the battery to die. I'd change it in a heartbeat. Many have got stuck and some in the middle of the road with a dead battery.

You would be wasting your money due to a general knowledge deficiency.

There are so many faux pas with the Auto start/stop. It drives me crazy not being able to figure out its logic. I made a post once mentioning how it wouldn't turn off in a drive-thru and people told me it must be due to temperature, climate control, etc. I would check the display menu and 9/10 the forum was correct. However, one day, it didn't turn off like it should and I saw the icon that it was disabled. So I checked the display and got the message "Disabled due to Gear Selection" I was in Drive???? I feel like there is some sensor that looks for something because even if I sit in the car line to drop my kid off for school, it wont turn off like it would in normal traffic.

There are some interesting bugs I would like to figure out just for the hell of it. Not that I am complaining or anything :cwl:

Another possibility for it to disable stop/start is the internal temp of the vehicle. If it is trying to make you comfortable in the car, then the engine will stay running. So, if it is cold outside and trying to warm up, or warm outside and trying to cool down, then it will stay running at stops.

Has anyone purchased or explored the Battery Tenders or related products as to does a trickle charger help maintain the 12 volt battery for us that make short trips and don,t always drive longer distances often enough to fully recharge the system?

Trips like that are great for battery tender. Also if the vehicle sits for a while. My BS can sit in the garage for two weeks or more without use. I use one.
Another issue with short trips is condensation in the oil. Change it more often.
