My 2022 Big Bend Baby Bronco has 21K miles, and two days ago it gave me a warning beeping when I exited. It took a bit, but I noticed a little A on the dash with a slash, so I figured out it was the auto stop / start not working. On a 400 mile trip yesterday, it worked for a while but didn't on the drive home.
Is it possible that it shuts down this feature if the battery is slightly low? It should have been well charged on the trip, even in the dark.
I don't like the feature, so I'm not bummed that it doesn't work, but I'm a bit concerned that such a new vehicle
Hello. Can you please send over a message with your VIN and the name/location of your local Ford dealer? I would like to look into your auto start/stop concerns on my end.

Mine stopped working about a month ago, about the same time that the weather cooled off here in SoCal. No warning lights or anything else…I think I’m liking it?

Definitely does it less in cold weather. Once it warms up outdoors, it will go back to shutting off and on more frequently unless it’s too hot then it hibernates again!

Has anyone tried turning on the rear window defroster and seeing if that keeps the ASS off. Works on our 2024 Subaru Outback - problem is you have to push that button every time. Orientation training gal showed us that. Subaru does an hour orientation after delivery for all the electronics in these new cars. We were in the car with her an hour and a half.

Still waiting on the Bronco Sport so can't test the theory on the ASS.

I don't mind the auto start stop on my Badlands, it's practically transparent, sometimes I need to look at the tach to see that the engine did turn off, then the very instant I take my foot off the brake it starts and I'm gone no hesitation and no jerkyness
When I test drove the 1.5 models the auto start stop was jerky and I can see why people wouldn't care for it. A coworker of mine recently picked up a new Escape with the 1.5 and complains about the lack of smoothness with auto start stop and wanted to know a way to permanently turn it off.

I think that what you're seeing is the additional battery load of the defroster causing the auto-Start-Stop to disengage and let the engine keep running.

If you're going to go to the trouble of pushing a button to activate the rear defroster every time why not just push the button to deactivate ASS?

Exactly - But might be the reason the ASS is hidden on cold days for some who posted here about their ASS not working on cold days.

Installed the Auto start eliminator today on the wife's Subaru Outback - a little more involved install than for a BS - works like a charm. Will definitely do the same for the BS when it is finally rolled of the transporter.
