Do the one up racks have any way to move out of the way to open the tailgate? Not a dealbreaker. But a nice to have for sure.
Yes, the rack drops down or folds up. I haven't tried it in my BS, but the hatch on my old GTI would clear with bikes on the rack by putting the rack in the down position. I will try it and report back.

Mine clears all our bikes when dropped down. Very low very wide handlebars would be the worst case scenario.

My 1UP Super Duty Single - black anodized - is the best. I have all of the accessory locks also, except for the cable lock -- looking to get a "real" Kryptonite chain lock rated secure enough for overnights. The fat tire adapter kit looks like a big pain to install, so not easily reversible except why? The "fat" styles accommodate both "fat" and "skinny" bikes easily. I just don't need that -- don't have a fat bike or e-bike and never will. Well, maybe an e-bike if I just can't peddle on my own anymore someday -- only then. The rack will last that long! All aluminum and stainless, no plastic. Can add up to 2 perfectly integrated add-ons (carry 3 bikes) if I want. I've never seen any rack more secure, and compact and out-of-the way either. $$Expensive$$, and I paid huge extra $$ for expedited delivery during 'the pandemic' to get mine last spring.

Looks like it completely blocks the rear camera when up, and when down (With a bike).

Unfortunately anything on the rear hitch does. My cargo carrier, bike racks, trailers, etc. It is what it is. That's why we have 3 rear facing mirrors and a head that swivels.

To the OP, 1up products are bombproof and worth the premium price tag. I'm planning on getting the bike add-on for my cargo carrier from them and cutting up the bike rack I fabricated and turning it into something else. It saved me well for about 6 years but the 1UP stuff is just too convenient.

The number of times my backup camera has saved me because of a kink in my neck stopping me from turning it... lol.

I wonder if there's a way to move the licence plate holder when up.

Yeah that looks sweet! Mine just came in but I haven’t put it yet as my bike is currently tore apart but working in it now. Thank you for the insight for sure. I didn’t get all the security goodies yet or the easy pull. While it is expensive it doesn’t seem like its any more expensive than the competition yet with a more clean look and robust capability. I did get two fatty kits, i was thinking id put just one on for now, but if it still can hold skinnier wheels also then thats great news.

The rear camera is not totally blocked. It still gets a decent image of what's behind me. It's just obscured. The audio sensing for the backup camera doesn't function properly, but I can still see what's back there and the green/yellow/red sight lines are still useful for me as long as I account for the additional length of the rack.

I agree 100% that the camera is convenient and I admittedly do miss it when it's blocked but it absolutely is not essential. I have a class-A CDL for side work and if I relied on a back up camera I'd be out of luck.

As for the license plate, 1up does sell a relocation kit that can be added to any of their racks.

I've been looking at the 1UP since it has a great departure angle. Does anyone know of any other hitch racks that have similar clearance? I had a Thule carrier but it stuck out too far and always scraped my driveway..

I realize your not asking me. I had a concern about that but I suppose it begs the question: How would a bike rack that blocks the license plate view be different than any other tow behind trailer that does the same viewing from directly behind?
I don’t know the answer but it is how I would view it right or wrong.

my last vehicle with hitch mounted bike rack didn't completely block the plate. the garage i park in at work scans the back plate to let you in and that had no problem reading it.

I also now notice the top part in this photo is a license plate holder
