And with that said I’d better add my vote to the pile. While I haven’t always been over the moon with mine, I can say it’s absolutely been free of any issues that might leave one at the side of the road. 22 BL, 20,000mi/30,000kms or so.

What would that 1975 Pinto have cost? $5K? Or was that a price class higher than the Pinto at the time? Run that through an inflation calculator today, that’s $30K… yeah. Ok it’s a little tough maybe to get into a Sport for $30K now, but it’s not far off. So your comparison is doubly valid based on what you’re getting for the money.
Original MSRP for a 1975 Pinto 2-door wagon was $3153.

The rear liftgate struts failed completely for me after less than a year of ownership. I had to wait months for the replacements to arrive.

My breaks are sometimes doing the whale noise in reverse.

Otherwise no moderate problems other than that (and nothing major that would leave me stranded). Minor annoyances include rattling in the doors with bass with B&O upgraded factory sound (plastic on plastic, really ford... I'll eventually get to putting noise insulating siless foam back there.)

The battery charging behavior seems better than it was pre-recall, but the EFB still pretty quickly down to a low state of charge. Never low enough to have to jump my vehicle, but I am testing it monthly because I have had it low enough (pre-recall) for engine start to hesitate). That's all with auto/start stop always disabled so whenever the vehicle is on the battery is charging.

Echo comments that you're more likely to hear about complaints on a forum than people saying "things working great, no issues!" by human nature. Certain complaints I've heard here (the speakers for instance) are echoed by many others, others I've heard enough of (the 1.5L water pumps) that I'm sure it's not a problem for every owner, but it can't be described as a rare problem.

What are you using to test the battery?
I have a Konnwei BK200 battery tester that I got for less than $20 shipped from Aliexpress. Super tiny, uses bluetooth so I just hook up the clamps, open the Kbattery app on my phone, input the profile of the battery I'm testing (12V, EFB, 700 CCA rating, this is saved in an input list) and then hit test. I can test the battery just as-is or I can run a test for cranking. Small enough to keep in the glovebox or to the side of the spare tire.

Do you know how it calculates SOH?
From what I understand, both SoH and SoC are based on standard calculations with known inputs.

For SoH specifically, the app asks you to input the rated CCAs, that's compared to the actual CCAs. Since the number of CCAs my battery put out exceeded the 700 CCAs it's rated for, the battery is considered 100% healthy.

Once you start getting below the rated, that's when it's basically a percentage based of rated versus actual. The app, I've told it the battery is rated for 700CCA, so let's say the battery is older and tested at 630CCA, that would be 630/700 =0.90 * 100 to make it a percentage = 90% SoH.

Of course, this is without accounting for the 700CCAs being at temperature. I tested around 70 degrees. CCA is cold cranking, which is at 0F. The cranking test is a bit more "real world" to see how it does during an actual startup.

Oops haha I wasn’t even thinking that it’d be easy to find the answer. Ok so $18,500 today. Which seems cheap for a new car. But then you didn’t get very much for your money then & it might not have lasted too long. Cheap new cars it seems have been replaced by much better used cars than were available 50 years ago.
The 2.3L 4cyl used in that MY Pinto produced a dizzying 82 hp, and neck-snapping 117 lb-ft of torque. And there was no reason to replace the standard single speaker AM radio because you couldn’t hear much over the engine noise at the nearly 5000 rpm required to achieve that thunderous power.

Man how standards have changed! Trying to drive even a 90s car in modern traffic is something else, I can’t imagine attempting modern traffic in a Pinto.

Not to derail the thread too much, but this was an ad in a magazine my mother kept (and she didn’t keep anything). The dream of a young family at the time without a car, though she obviously didn’t mail in the entry. Ah the days when all the information you needed was in a magazine rather than google.

Almost 3 years of ownership and nearly 70k miles later. 1.5L has been fairly reliable. No major problems besides a few recalls and very minor issues. Only thing I’ve replaced has been the EFB battery to an AGM.

We have a 2023 Badlands that was trouble free until a week ago when the AC compressor went bad just as my wife pulled into our driveway. It’s going to take them a month to get the parts. I love it but I am worried about it like you. It’s comfortable and fun to drive. your Bronco is beautiful. I love that color. Just keep a good warranty on them I guess. Lol

Ours just turned 43k. Other than the brake moan that I fixed myself with a set of ceramic brake pads and the sorry china battery that took a crap 3 months out of warranty, ours has not given any major issues. I’m not going to blame the battery issue on ford, because, as a mechanic, I’ve seen that no batteries are made to last anymore. 3 years is about the going rate that you’ll get on them.

No issues yet, but less than 600 miles on a 2024 on a BSBB. Thought I had an issue with the driver's seat, but found out I just couldn't read...lol,
