Air Filter Housing Grommet

Just as an assist, because I’m not the first, won’t be the last. If you find the pictured grommet, it goes between the air intake box and connected to the battery mount plate (about where the red circles are…).

Had Ford’s mobile service replace the battery on the recall, and got a check engine light the next morning. They failed to plug back in the air temp sensor on the air intake (problem 1, but easy fix).

problem 2: found the grommet on the ground after changing my oil this morning. It was trapped on the skid plate. I’m sure it pulled loose as they were replacing the battery and doing all their “maintenance” checks.

This is just sloppy work. The technician did not even check their work before closing the hood.

Every time I take any vehicle to the dealer for service, when I pick it up I open the hood to check. Many times I find items not assembled and hooked up properly. The service advisor gets called over and sometimes even the service manager. I have also found tools left under the hood.

Same thing happened to me. Found it in the belly pan during a oil change - months after Ford changed the battery. Took a bit to figure out where it went....

Finding tools left by a tech is a good thing. Adds to your tool box. I learned from losing tools in my younger days to make a last focused sweep before i close the hood.
