I know, I know, probably a good idea to wait while hype is still high and reservations are still being converted. That and meeting safety standards. Of which, safety and fuel economy information please! :) Anybody know when this will be released?

Hmm...trying to think of NEW information that would be killer.

Something fresh would be good, especially something official, like fuel economy and crash test info. Hopefully, both will be decent and keep the positive momentum going.

I hope for a review by Emme Hall (CNET/Roadshow). I like her take on things. She will be driving the Rebelle Rally (in a fully electric off roader) so we won't see anything by her this month. But she will be able to see the three Bronco Sports that Ford is fielding for that rally so that might be good.

I'm with you here. I keep thinking Ford will want some kind of larger down payment before they start releasing test vehicles. As much as I potentially like the BS, I'm not going to commit 100% until I a: get to drive one, and b: see independent reviews. We are all taking a chance on a first-year release, so I don't have an issue waiting another year. I will say I've had a number of problems with new products released in the last few months (like cameras) because testing and engineering was sub-par during the COVID period.

Agree 1000% to Cyclone Cowboy's 2 discussion points...even if dealership sells "my" Badlands reservation/order to another very early adopter, I will wait until someone reviews the pavement manners, features, etc. before I commit to the Bronco Sport

I'm in the same boat as @essentialemployee... this is the first car that has met all of my check boxes of wants.

This will be my first Ford, and I am hoping that the drivetrain is tried and true by now with minimal issues.

No doubt there will be first year issues, I just hope they wont leave me stranded and are simple issues that will be backed by Ford to correct.

Maybe my bar is set low bc I've had ring land failure which ended up in a new short block, new clutch due to bad welds, and also leaking steering system which had to be replaced at cost. Overall lucky I haven't been stranded .. LOL.. my luck should be better right?

I agree it’s time for a review. So far it has received 5 stars for me for exterior and interior. As far as performance and capability... Just from the few videos I’ve seen, I’m confident enough to sign for the vehicle today without first experiencing it myself. That might not be the wisest way to purchase a vehicle but I like it too much far more than any alternatives. Those videos being the ones from moad showing capability, ones looking smooth on the highway, and the way it handles in the durability test.

5/5 exterior and interior- 100% confidence
5/5 performance and capability- 90% confidence
Nice video, haven't seen that one before. That's why we're here, a shared interest in a potential 4x4 rig that meets our needs! Which is why I want more videos on the performance :) Friends may grip hand holds a little too firm as I cruise 40mph over washboard roads, I can only imagine if I have a capable rig! Trail control will be interesting as typically that can be the most fun part, navigating and accelerating when needed to maneuver bumpy terrain.

*not unsafe, sometimes washboard roads are easiest and more comfortable at an optimal speed.

Agree. Resource roads here are generally 50mph limit but of course travel speed should always reflect road conditions.

Question is, how the Sport would hold up to that kind of use over time - especially at higher speeds. Off highway trips for 3-5 years and then trade it in I imangine would be no problem. But because we keep our vehicles for so long (this will replace our 22 yo Escort) a long term durability test would be of most interest to me.

But I don't think I'll wait that long ! !

22 years for me would be over 400,000 miles. How many miles would a vehicle hold up with good durability?
I guess that's going to depend a lot on environmental and service use. I gotta say tho that Escort ZX2 has been a great car. 200k miles, mostly orig and still in good shape despite brine use in winter.

The 10 YO F350 has ~110K miles, quite a few of those off pavement. It carries a lot of weight and can take a pounding off highway (not "off-roading") It's still pretty tight and I wouldn't hesitate to take it deep into the bush or on a cross country trip. Could do another 5 years for us, I'd say.

The Escort wouldn't have lasted that long on gravel tho. That's the thing - horses for courses.

For me, I'd like 10 years from a new vehicle without too much trouble, say 100-150K. I think that's reasonable but then OTOH I'm out of touch with the newest products.

Edited to add a bit

My 2007 Mercury Mariner tripped 238K miles last week and I have two other vehicles (2014 sports car & 2011 sport tour motorcycle) that are in my daily driver stable and have only hung on to the Mariner to hold down the mileage (75K & 23K respectively) on those.

Whenever I decide on what it will be replace with, it will be going to my sister, as she's were vehicles go to live out the rest of their lives.

My 2006 Escape had 263,000 on it when I let it go early last year. I know the new owner is still driving it. Some of the Escape hybrids were used in New York as taxis and reportedly many had 400,000+ on them and were still going.

Ah, my 2001 Escape. I miss her. 378,000 miles at 15 years old. No problems till the very end. If it hadn't been for the rust, I may have put money into her and kept her. Someone else put the money up and she is still on the road. That SUV is the reason I put an order in for a Sport. And am not worried about first year models.

Really Ford? You're going to make us wait almost an entire month before reviewers are able to publish their opinions? I'm calling bullshit, especially when first deliveries are expected a couple of weeks after you lift your embargo.
